working part time, waiting tables
left a small town, never looked back" hi there, how can I help you? "
" a table...just for one please "
" sure, just this way, a waiter will be with you shortly to take your order "
" thank you " Taylor nodded. She sat down at the oak table, her hand reaching for the menu that the they'd just placed in front of her. She ran her thumbs over the laminated piece of paper, assessing all her options, did she know even know what she wanted? A drink? Food? She wasn't completely sure.
" hey, are you ready to order? " no. But the voice was cheerful, welcoming and warm.
" oh, uh..can I just have a few more minutes- " her gaze shifted, staring right into the turquoise eyes that met her own. The waiter: tall, muscular, if she had to admit, pretty attractive. But love is stupid, well at least to Taylor. You can't fall in love. Especially not at first sight.
" yeah, sure " he smiled, flashing a toothy grin, his eyes crinkling with happiness. " hi, I'm Travis " he spoke, noticing the girl in front of him, staring curiously. She was pretty. Blonde curls cascading down her shoulders, meeting at the cusp of a little white dress.
" oh, hi. I'm Taylor " she smiled back at him.
" Taylor " he paused. " that's a nice name "
" thank you for saying that " she giggled. Making Travis smile at how adorable her laugh was.
" I can recommend you something if you want " he suggested. He had been working here for a little over 8 months, he should really know what tasted the best.
" that'd be helpful, thank you " she nodded. And he came closer to her, leaning down and skimming over the menu, just to familiarise himself with what was there – a gentle reminder.
" the spaghetti pomodoro is really good, it's a bit basic, but sometimes you can just never go wrong " Travis tells her. He would consider himself a picky eater, so the plainer, more simple options were a safer bet for him.
" I'll get the spaghetti pomodoro then please, and a sprite? " she confirms with a smile.
" coming right up " Travis gathers the menu, turning away to hand Taylor's order in.
Taylor smiles as he moves away, watching how he interacted with his colleagues and a few other customers. She admired his kindness and how helpful he was. That's how she spent a lot of her time waiting for her food to arrive, just gazing at Travis, who was completely oblivious, in his own world of work. Taylor was a little disappointed when a different waiter brought her food out to her, despite also being friendly and kind, it wasn't Travis who she had hoped to interact with again. Digging into the pasta, she couldn't help but smile when she tasted how good it was, twirling it around on her fork politely but promptly. Travis really had recommended well.
" hey, do you mind if I join? " a familiar voice spoke, startling Taylor where she quickly bolted her eyes up, Travis stood before her, his own plate of food in hand.
" oh sure " she shot him a toothless smile, gesturing for him so sit.
" I just took my lunch break, and, I wouldn't mind getting to know you a bit more. What are you doing here all by yourself? " he questioned, poking his fork gently through a collection of salad leaves.
