Caring is poison

In a world that craves the heart that beats true,
where kindness is a river, endlessly flowing,
you give your all, your light, your hue,
yet in darkness, no one sees you glowing.

You stand beside them, through thick and thin,
A quiet strength when their storms appear.
but when the dust settles, when the calm sets in,
your worth is forgotten, your voice they won't hear.

Caring too much in a time so cold,
makes you a target, not a treasure to hold.
Peers pass by, lovers take flight,
they scorn your softness, mistake it for slight.

In their chaos you're the steady ground,
a place of peace when the world spins round.
Yet they turn away, with words that sting,
mocking the comfort and hope you bring

For in a crisis, they'll cling to your flame, but in brighter days you're just another name.
The genuine soul, seen as easy to bend, a caring heart, left with woods to mend.

But remember this truth, carved deep in your core,
You were not made for their reckless score.
To care is to shine, in ways they can't see,
To love is power, it's the rarest of free.

my value is greater than their fleeting pride
for those who can't see your worth in the night, are not meant to bask in the warmth of your light.
Caring has hurt me more than anything in this world.
