Charlotte's POV
2 Years Later
It’s been a little over three years since Engfa and I have been together, and every single day, I feel blessed to wake up beside her. Well, except for today, because when I reach out, my hand touches an empty space where she should be.
I yawn and blink my eyes open, glancing around the room. My gaze falls on the nightstand, where the first thing I see is my ring. I proposed to Engfa two months ago, and she said yes. The very next day, she surprised me by getting a ring for me too.
I slip out from under the covers and make my way to the bathroom. We decided to get a house together, and this one's definitely bigger. The moment I step inside, a wave of nausea hits me, and I rush to the toilet, emptying my stomach. I’ve been feeling like this for the past few days now.
I rinse my mouth and splash water on my face, then go through my usual morning routine. When I step out, Engfa walks into the bedroom with a wide smile that quickly fades when she sees me.
“Cute eyes, are you alright? You look a bit pale.”
Her injuries have healed up pretty well. When she first started physical therapy, she had a noticeable limp, but after a year, she was back to walking normally.
“Yeah, I think I’m just coming down with something,” I reply.
She steps closer and presses a kiss to my forehead. “Do you want me to get you anything?”
I shake my head. “No, I just want you. Where’s Olivia?”
“Downstairs watching TV.”
“Should I tell her we’re not going to the park anymore?”
“No, it’s fine. I’ll be okay,” I assure her, wrapping my arms around her neck.
“Are you sure?” she asks, her brow furrowed in concern.
“Sweetheart, I’m fine. You worry too much.”
She rolls her eyes and takes my hand as we head downstairs together. Olivia is so engrossed in her cartoon that she doesn’t even notice us entering the room.
“Your dad was here earlier this morning,” Engfa informs me.
“Did he need something?”
“He wants to buy a new car for your mom, so he was asking for recommendations,” she says, glancing toward the backyard.
When we got back from Italy, and my dad found out that Olivia calls Engfa "Mom," he started calling her by her first name. They’ve grown close since then. I suppose he was worried she wasn’t good enough for us, but now, things have changed.
Engfa's relationship with her own dad has improved too. They’ve had their ups and downs, but ever since he apologized, things have been different. I don’t think Engfa has forgiven him completely, but I see her letting go a little more each day.
It makes me happy to know everything is falling into place for everyone.
I turn to Engfa, then look over to Olivia, making her look as well. “I’ll get her ready. I made breakfast for you, so eat up while I dress her. And can you feed Kieyw?”
“Thank you, and yeah, I will,” she replies, pecking my lips before heading off to get Olivia ready.
I don’t feel much like eating, but Engfa and I have been doing IVF, so I should probably take a test before we head to the park, considering how nauseous I’ve been feeling.
