Flashback:

"Austyn, I'm so sorry." My mom says, stroking my hair gently. I feel my lip begin to quiver as I look up at her. "I don't understand." I whisper, my mind instantly reaching to conclusions. "Why would daddy want to leave us, doesn't he love me?" I ask quietly.

"He had to go sweetheart." She convinces, smiling down at me sadly. "Jacquelin tricked him into being with her. He needs to get out of here, to get away from her." She explains sadly. "But, what about the baby?" I ask, my tone concerned.

"I guess you'll have to keep an eye out for the little one, can you do that?"My mom asks, causing me to nod. "Of course mommy, she's my sister and I love her. I won't let anything happen to her." I pledge, smiling at the thought of having a baby sister . Someone to take care of, someone to play with, to talk to.

"I won't let anyone hurt her."

Present Day:

I look down at my little sister as she sleeps peacefully in my arms. It has been so long since I've gotten to see her. Though I have kept my eye out for her ever since that day a long time ago. But we got to spend today together, as Daxton had some meetings to attend to with one of the other Alphas, and I was the only one he trusted enough to keep an eye on his precious Luna.

You see, Daxton knew that Adisyn was my half sister, heck, we all went to highschool together before I graduated.

Adisyn was always so quiet, she always had her nose in a book of some sorts. But she was always so beautiful, so kind. I always admired the way she carried herself, the way nothing angered her. I always decided to keep my distance from her, though it was not at all because I was ashamed of her.

I just knew she had a lot going on in her life. She was in all advanced placement classes and wrote books in her spare time. But I always knew something was off about her. She would wear sunglasses inside the school, and sported an awry of oversized hoodies.

Someone was hurting my sister, seeing it and knowing there was nothing I could do killed me inside. Every single day I had to watch as she fell apart in front of my eyes. I had to love her from afar, and hope for the best for her safety.

Things got worse as time progressed. She started wearing sunglasses everyday and it was evident that she was losing weight, that she was depressed. She closed herself off from everyone. Her marks slowly started to dwindle, her attendance going with it.

I started changing into my wolf form to keep an eye on her, sneaking into the forest by her house and staying there into the wee hours of the morning. What I heard was appaling. Glass shattered, heart breaking sobs, screaming. Curse words flew out of her mother's mouth like it was her native tongue.

I had planned to take her with me. To take her to the pack house and out of her mother's grasp forever. I was going to talk to Dax about it, before the whole mate thing sprung up.

She doesn't even know I am her brother, I don't know if she should either. She has had enough for awhile. But she is living in the pack house now, Daxton and I agreed that sending her back to that abuse was in no way an option.

I hear the door to the apartment creak open as a set of keys was carelessly tossed on the counter. "Austyn! I'm back!" Daxton calls, his footfalls nearing the living room where Adisyn and I were watching How I Met Your Mother (before she fell asleep on me.)

"So how was your day?" He asks, slumping down on the couch adjacent to where we were. "Shh." I hiss, motioning to the sleeping girl who was currently taking to drooling on my shoulder. Dax laughs under his breath, a goofy smile lighting up his face.

"She's so cute." He whispers lovingly as he shook his head at her. "Yes, yes she is." I agree, moving a tendril of her red, curly hair out of her charcoal grey eyes. "How'd the meeting go?" I ask, my gaze moving back to look at Dax.

He sighs, leaning his head back on the couch. "Pretty good, they have always loved to tease me though, nothing has changed." He says, laughing at himself. "Especially since I have a mate now, they are telling me I'm finally growing up. I'm ninteen for goodness sakes." He reminds, shaking his head.

"And I'm twenty-one, what's your're point here Dax?" I ask, causing him to laugh. "I don't know." He sighs, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. "I sure as hell missed her today though, especially after being away from her for three days." He admits, his eyes gazing upon her fondly.

"I never thought I could love someone this much." He whispers, holding his head in his hands. "But god, I love her, I have no idea what to do." He groans. "She isn't used to love Dax." I note, looking down at my sister as she sleeps.

"Just, be patient with her. Let her know you care, just don't push her too far." I suggest, causing him to nod. "Right, yeah, you have a point. Thank you Austyn." Dax says, smiling.

"It's no problem, just happy to have someone in her life that I know will be good to her." I admit, causing him to laugh. "Of course, I care about her. Speaking of which, we should probably get her to bed. The couch doesn't seem all that comfortable." He laughs, looking down at me.

"I've got her, thank you so much for keeping an eye on her today." He smiles, scooping up Adisyn's small frame into his arms. "It was my pleasure." I reply, leaving a kiss on my sister's forehead before Daxton places her gently on her bed, slipping her covers up around her shoulders.

"I should turn in for the night, good night Austyn." Daxton yawns, heading for his own room. "Good night Alpha." I smile, walking back into my own apartment and yawning as I flop myself on to my bed.

Daxton will be good to my sister. He is a smart, loyal, and very caring alpha. Plus, he has a younger sister that he is helping raise since his mother has fallen ill recently. He is a very strong alpha and I am sure he will understand my sister very well.

He won't hurt my sister, no one will ever hurt her.
