CHAPTER THREE
Because she's so pretty! And I have free time. Why not?

HOSHINO KIRA𝓐mi stared down at the table, her eyes wide with disbelief. "I can't believe it. We're soldiers... and we hold thee powers," she murmured.
The group sat huddled in a quiet corner of the Crown Game Center. The clatter and beeping of the arcade games filled the air, blending with the cheerful music from the Sailor V machines. Usagi, as usual, was completely engrossed in one of the games, her face lit with determination and occasional bursts of excitement. The rest of them, however, were focused on something far more serious: their newfound identities as Sailor Guardians.
"You've only just awakened," Luna said, her voice calm and wise as she perched beside Ami. "I'm sure you'll begin to understand everything, little by little, as time passes."
Skye was curled lazily across Kira's lap. Her tail flicked as Kira gently stroked her soft fur, lost in thought.
"What's the enemy's goal?" Kira asked, eyes narrowing. "How are we supposed to stop them? And when you say 'enemy'... what kind of people are we talking about?"
Skye sat up suddenly and leapt onto the table. Her tone was serious now. "Our main objective is to find the Princess. But more importantly, we must protect the Silver Crystal... and prevent it from falling into the wrong hands."
"The Silver Crystal...?" Ami repeated, her voice barely a whisper.
Before anyone could answer, a shriek of joy interrupted the conversation.
"Finally! I did it!" Usagi exclaimed. "I beat the second stage!"
Everyone turned toward her. She had dropped to her knees in front of the machine and was scooping something up from the floor. "Oh hey, look! Something came out again! Another prize!"
Usagi held up three sparkly wristwatches and beamed. "Wristwatches! Kira, Ami—look! There are two more for you!"
She handed them out proudly, but before Kira could slip hers on, Luna pounced and snatched the watches away.
"Oh, these are just lovely!" Luna purred. "With a few modifications, I can turn them into communicator watches!"
Ami tilted her head suspiciously. "Luna... did you rig the arcade machines?"
The cat only chuckled.
Just then, Usagi glanced at the wall clock. "Hey Ami, it's five o'clock. Will you be okay?"
Ami's eyes widened. "Oh no! I've got English extra help today after school!"
She hurriedly gathered her things. "We'll walk you to the bus stop," Usagi said cheerfully.
The three girls and their felines left the arcade, walking beneath the golden wash of the setting sun. Luna perched comfortably on Usagi's shoulder while Kira carried Skye in her arms.
As Ami boarded the bus and waved goodbye, Kira waved back, her gaze trailing after her friend—only to be caught by someone else entirely.
There, sitting a few seats back on the bus, was a girl. She had long, straight black hair with a faint purple sheen, and her eyes—deep violet and unblinking—locked with Kira's.
Something stirred in Kira. She didn't understand it. It wasn't recognition, exactly, but something closer to déjà vu—like a memory she had forgotten, waiting just below the surface.
