Clifford's POV
I strolled, lost in thought, as my girlfriend's urgent call pierced the air. "What's wrong, Jane?" I asked, anxiety creeping in."Ford, let's break up. I'm tired," she said, her voice cold.
My world crumbled. "What did I do wrong?" I begged.
"It's not working, Ford. I've found someone better."
I chased her, desperate. "Why? Am I not enough?"
The universe seemed against me. I collapsed, gasping for air.
# A Year Later
I wandered, seeking solace, and stumbled upon a torn book page. Curiosity piqued, I picked it up and headed to the park. Memories flooded back, and tears streamed down my face.Glancing at my watch, I rushed to class. In my haste, I collided with a guy.
"Ouch!" he exclaimed.
Our eyes met. His captivating features left me breathless. I masked my vulnerability with annoyance.
"What? Aren't you gonna say sorry?" I snapped.
"Sorry the pathway was too big for you!" he retorted, hurrying off.
# Class Encounter
Barging into class, I locked eyes with the same guy."You?!" we exclaimed in unison.
Professor Lee intervened, "Mr. Sinco, late again?"
I introduced myself, "Hi, I'm Clifford Sinco."
Rio's intro caught my attention. Cute.
# Days Passed
I taunted Rio, "Hey fag**t!"He shrugged me off. "I don't have time."
In class, our professor announced paired projects. Rio's dismay amused me.
"Hey, rude much? I'm not that bad."
Rio shot back, "Yea, yea, not bad, just lazy."
Our project began, and I feigned disinterest.
"Hey fag**t, do the project. I've got a date."
Rio refused, "Heck no! No slave here."
As we worked, our gazes met. "Hey, if you keep staring, I might melt."
Rio blushed, "Not staring. Focus."
My heart skipped a beat.
