Giyuu's Pov:
Giyuu was sitting on her bed, thinking about Nezuko. She hadn't made any mistakes in saving Nezuko and Tanjiro. What if she ended up eating humans?
CAW CAW message from Oyakta Sama. Giyuu went to her window to see the crow.
Kanzaburo (Giyuu's Kasugai crow) Message from Headquarters.
Giyuu took the letter and read it. She has been summoned to headquarters for a new mission. Giyuu ran toward headquarters after reading the letter. As soon as she reached Sanemi was already there, waiting for her

Sanemi's patience was already wearing thin as he glared at Giyuu, the air between them thick with tension. His voice was sharp, filled with anger as he spat, "Tomioka, you're late. I've been waiting for you—literally, it's been more than 20 minutes. What the hell were you doing?"
Giyuu, standing a little ways off, responded quietly, "I'm sorry."
Sanemi wasn't satisfied with the apology. His brows furrowed deeper, irritation etched into every word. "Tch, sorry? That's it? Not even gonna explain why you're late?"
Giyuu remained silent, staring ahead, avoiding the confrontation, but his calm demeanor only fueled Sanemi's frustration.
Before things could escalate further, Oyakata-sama's soft, calm voice broke through the tension. "Good afternoon, my children."
Both Sanemi and Giyuu turned to their leader, their tempers calming in his presence.
"I have a mission for you two," Oyakata-sama continued, his voice gentle but serious. "In the village of xxx, we sent several lower-ranking Demon Slayer members to kill a demon. It has been three days, and there has been no word from them. No crows have returned. I need both of you to investigate and eliminate the threat."
Sanemi's voice was firm, laced with determination. "Yes, Master. We'll kill the demon."
Giyuu spoke next, his tone softer, more thoughtful. "Yes, Master. We'll find out what happened to the lower ranks and report back."
Sanemi shot Giyuu an annoyed glance, clearly aggravated by Giyuu's words. "Seriously, you didn't hear what the Master just said? It's been three days. They're probably dead by now."
Giyuu said nothing, his silence only deepening the divide between them.
Oyakata-sama spoke again, bringing them back to the task at hand. "You may depart as soon as possible. Investigate the village, and be prepared—there's a chance the demon could be one of the lower or even upper ranks."
Sanemi and Giyuu responded in unison, "Yes, Master."
None POV:
The journey to the village was a silent one. Sanemi walked ahead, his thoughts turbulent. This was his first mission with Giyuu, and the weight of that fact gnawed at him. Since becoming a Hashira, Sanemi had harbored a confusing mixture of feelings toward Giyuu—anger, frustration, and something he didn't want to admit might be admiration or even attraction. But that infuriating "I am different from you all" attitude that Giyuu always carried made Sanemi hate him on the surface.
He couldn't forget their first meeting. The way everyone scolded him for his brashness, yet Giyuu had said nothing. That silence, that distance, had drawn Sanemi's eyes to Giyuu, especially that odd, mismatched haori. It had stirred something in him—curiosity, maybe—but he hated how it also irritated him. What was up with her? he had thought back then.
Lost in thought, Sanemi didn't hear the voice calling him from behind. "Shinazugawa, are you listening?"
Sanemi snapped back to reality, his annoyance instantly rising. "Yes, I'm f***ing listening. I can see the village too."
Giyuu, unfazed, spoke softly. "Sorry. I called you several times, but you didn't respond."
Sanemi's frustration deepened. "OK," he muttered in annoyance, though in truth, he hadn't been paying attention. He had been lost in his thoughts—thoughts of Giyuu, no less, which irritated him even more.
They reached the outskirts of the village, a place that immediately felt wrong. The air was thick with a rancid, sickening smell that made Sanemi's temper flare even more. They split up, moving through the eerily quiet streets. The village was abandoned, and what they found within chilled them both to the core. The doors of houses were broken, blood smeared across walls and dirt paths, and the decomposing bodies of villagers lay in grotesque poses as if their lives had been violently ripped away.
Sanemi's anger boiled over as he met Giyuu in the center of the village, his fists clenched. "This demon... it's going to pay for this," he growled, his voice low and furious.
Giyuu, more composed but equally disturbed, nodded. "Shinazugawa, I think we should check the mountain. It's dense, no sunlight breaks through. I have a bad feeling that's where the demon is."
Sanemi looked at Giyuu, surprised by her firm tone. "I'm amazed you actually speak up like that, Tomioka."
Giyuu didn't rise to the bait, her voice steady. "I only speak when it's necessary. I don't like wasting energy on stupid things."
Sanemi's eye twitched, irritation flaring up again. "Do you think I'm stupid?"
There was a moment of silence before Giyuu muttered under her breath, "Yes."
Sanemi's head snapped toward her. "What did you say, Tomioka?"
"Nothing," Giyuu responded calmly, walking ahead. "Let's go."
Sanemi fumed quietly but followed.
None POV:
As they ran through the thick woods of the mountain, the atmosphere grew heavier. The deeper they went, the thicker the trees became, blocking out what little sunlight remained. The smell of death was undeniable now.
And then they saw them—bodies. The torn and lifeless forms of the lower-ranking Demon Slayer members. Their uniforms, once symbols of hope, were now soaked in blood and dirt. Giyuu's heart clenched, her eyes narrowing in grief and anger. Sanemi's rage boiled over, his fists shaking.
Suddenly, a strange sound echoed through the forest—a laugh. The sound was cold, twisted, filled with delight.
They sprinted toward the noise and found the source. A demon stood in the clearing, its face twisted in a sadistic smile, its eyes glowing with cruel excitement. It looked at Giyuu and Sanemi like they were its next prize.
The demon's voice dripped with malice. "More slayers for me? What luck..."
Sanemi's grip on his sword tightened, his eyes burning with fury. "You're going to regret ever laying your hands on them."
Giyuu, standing beside him, said nothing, but her eyes were filled with a quiet, burning determination. Together, they stepped forward, prepared to face the demon that had taken the lives of their comrades. They would avenge them.
