My Funeral

If he did plan to kill me it would be the perfect place to do it. No one knows I'm here and no one would suspect him especially with all this peace talk him and his father are talking about. He finally lets me go and almost instinctively I pull out my gun. I made the mistake of not being prepared earlier mainly because I never expected to be caught off guard at my own home but since then I have upgraded my usual gun and pepper spray to include two guns, three knives and my pepper spray just in case. I press it against his chest suddenly aware of his heartbeat

"I won't miss this time".

"You won't" he agrees "Why'd your father kill your chef". I blink in shock. Of all the things to come out of his mouth I expected that the least.

"He was a rat".

He clucks his tongue and shakes his head, "that's your fathers version" he steps closer to me my gun digging into his chest "but I know you don't believe that".

"Why wouldn't I" I suddenly feel a shift in the current power dynamic. Despite having a gun to him he seems to have the upper hand here. I don't know what he's playing at here. What information he's trying to draw out of me.

"If you really believed your father you wouldn't have asked Ricky to look into it". I pale at that.

"You're following me around".

"I came here before you but once I saw you I got curious". He tilts my chin up forcing eye contact. "So tell me your version".

"Why do you care" I ask. It doesn't make sense while he did see Frank's body he has no other connection to the man. He has seen hundreds of bodies in his lifetime so why would this one peak his interest.

"Boredom" he says plainly.

"Bullshit" I counter.

He sighs "I have my reasons. But we both want the same thing here so why don't you let me help".

"Why would I ever trust you enough to work with you? I would sooner kill you". He laughs then twists the gun out of my hand and throws it to the side.

"Clearly you wouldn't kill me since you missed your chance. Sadly for you it'll never come that easily again". He's got me there. I don't know why I hesitated. It would have been the perfect opportunity to kill him. No one knows I'm here, my father and our guards could corroborate that I never left but most importantly no one would suspect me.

"Let me help" he looks earnest.

"Why?" I ask again.

"I think my father played a role". Oh that's news.

"I heard him talking to your father about it but I didn't get details".

"Your dad is keeping things from you too" I ask. It's quite vulnerable of him to admit that to me. I note that.

"Yes and I want to know why". I nod.

"Why turn to me you can't trust me anymore than I can trust you".

"True but it seems like a miracle has happened and we now share a common goal". I raise an eyebrow.

"This whole thing between our fathers is more than a peace arrangement. They are planning something larger". His words echo in my ears long after I leave.

My mind is spinning by the time I make it back into Vince's house. Elena must spot me because she's on me immediately. "There you are, I sent out Aaron and Angelo to look for you". Upon seeing what I'm sure is a horrified and slightly sick expression on my face Elena pauses. "What happened?" she asks softly.
