My name is Riley and I am Patrick Stump's black converse. I have a twin brother named Adam. Our shoe box is located in a New York City Famous Footwear store.
When Patrick Stump walked into the Famous Footwear shoe store Adam and I were as excited as kids on Christmas morning. Even though I'm a shoe doesn't mean I don't know who Patrick is. The shoe store does have music playing in the background.
We hoped that we would be the lucky pair of shoes that will go home with Patrick; just like every other pair of shoes in the store at the moment. He slowly walked down the aisle that Adam and I belonged to; the mens 8 ½'s.
Adam quickly whispered to me, "He's coming this way!" It was obviously out of pure excitement that he said it, because I can see perfectly fine.
Patrick scanned the side of the aisle that I was on. His eyes were jewels when they landed on Adam and my box. "Converse! these are exactly what I need!" He shouted in glee. He pulled Adam out of the box to try him on. Adam shot me a smug look and I glared back at him.
"No fair!" I raged.
Patrick slipped him on. "Cool! It fits!" He exclaimed. Judging by the look on Adam's face, he did not like being called an 'it', but he got over it quickly enough.
Patrick took Adam off, set him in our box, and put his old, worn shoe back on. He grabbed our box and walked up to the cash register.
"I want to buy these ones." Patrick stated.
"Okay Mr. Stump! That will be $39.95." The cashier replied.
Patrick paid and we were on our way. Then, in the doorway, Patrick stopped. He removed his old shoes and threw them in the trash can that was located next to the cash register. I actually feel kind of bad for the shoes. As Patrick threw them in the trash can, the shoes screamed while sliding down the plastic bag.
He put Adam and I on and laced us up. His limo was out in the parking lot waiting for him. I can't believe I was just bought by Patrick Stump!
The minute we got to Patrick's house he kicked us off at the door. He flopped down on the couch and grabbed his journal, which was on the coffee table. He started writing things down at a fast pace. I figured he was writing down ideas for songs. After watching him write for a while, I dozed off.
The next morning, Patrick quickly put Adam and I on. He didn't even take the time to tie the laces! He ran out the door and called a taxi. The streets were really busy, but you can't expect much else from New York City.
He ran into the recording studio, papers flying everywhere. "Guys! Today is the last day we have to record!" He shouted to his fellow Fall Out Boy's, "Then we go on tour!"
Then Peter Wentz said, "Thats our only choice right?" The rest of the band nodded then got to work recording.
That night when Patrick, Adam and I got home, Patrick found ice cream in the fridge and ate the whole carton to celebrate. Then he stayed up late watching TV while Adam and I fell asleep.
When Adam, Patrick and I woke up, we got to packing (by 'we' I mean Patrick). At 4:00 we went to a party with the rest of the Fall Out Boy band and multiple others while Fall Out Boy launched their new album. That was one of the most hectic and weird things I would see in my lifetime. Patrick crashed on the couch that night. Thank goodness he bought his bags to the party, because at 7:00 the next morning, the tour bus for Fall Out Boy came and picked up Patrick and the rest of the band. The band decided that their first stop would be in Reno, Nevada, because they want to start in the farthest town away from their home town that they would be touring in.
After the roughly thirteen hour car ride, Patrick and his band were really happy to get outside of their tour bus. Even though the band was only in the bus for only about half a day, the bus was trashed. The boys climbed back into the bus and prepared for the next day, the day that would officially start their tour. The show would start at six, so they would spend the entire morning getting ready for the show in the afternoon.
The concert was set up for them while the band tuned up in the back room. Only then did realization slap me in the face. Patrick will be wearing me on stage! The lights dimmed while the band walked on stage. It was 5:55. Patrick started tapping his foot, which made Adam wince and repeatedly say 'ow'.
Right before Patrick started his first song, a crazed fangirl named Mary jumped on to the stage and grabbed em off of Patrick. She sprinted off the stage with a ton of security guards following her. Before running out the door, she shouted, "Patrick! May all your pink penguins party with purple ponies!"
Mary ran out the door, slid into a car, shoved me into her backpack and told the lady in the drivers seat to "floor it" The lady appeared to be her mom. I was so scared; being in the possession of someone who is not Patrick.
Once she got to her house, she ran into her bedroom and put me on her shelf. Her room was alien to me. Almost all of her possessions were blue. She grabbed a book and her tablet. From her tablet she played a very familiar voice. Patrick. That thought also made my mind wander to what Adam was feeling right now. I bet he's wondering where I'm at. The girl flipped through the pages of her book at what seemed like a million miles an hour until she landed on a page she had marked with a bookmark. She read for what seemed like hours until I fell asleep.
In the morning both Mary and I woke up to Mary's alarm clock going off.
"I have school!" She announced.
That confused me a little bit. Patrick had never gone to this so called 'school'. Mary got ready and headed out the so she could go to 'school'.
A few hours after she left, her mom walked into Mary's room. "What is this?" she said, picking me up. "Must be trash." She shrugged, carrying me out the house and throwing me into an alleyway. From there, I waited more time than I can count for someone to save me.
II woke up one morning, my hope almost spent. Then Patrick walked by. I was in his line of sight. But, when I caught eye contact from him, I noticed he had new shoes. He had moved on. Patrick kept walking. After Patrick Stump walked away and left me, I spent the rest of my lifetime in the alleyway, hopeless and confused.
My name is Riley and I was Patrick Stump's black converse.
