Hey Neighbor

Linsey wakes up just like any other day, her mom yelling downstairs for her to get up even though it's summer. Linsey never really understood it but it's better  listening than arguing with her mom which was a lawyer.

She runs downstairs her light blonde hair messy from sleeping. "lindsey can you please go check our mailbox i'm late for work" her mom asks with an undertone of annoyance. "yes mom i'm on it".

She ties her hair up in a messy bun and runs outside quick to get the mail, shoeless and to mention it is incredibly hot and it wouldn't be ideal to sweat this early in the morning.

Right as she's grabbing she hears a loud noise "look out pretty girl!" A baseball comes flying right as  Linsey ducks and she looks over and sees an athletic brown haired girl with a slick back ponytail and a red and white uniform on.

She picks up the baseball and puts the mail under her arm and walks over to the jock."hey i'm assumed this is yours" she says to this new girl who she's seen around but never really spoken to before.

"yes thank you that's mine sorry for almost hitting you there" She chuckles and holds out her hand. "i'm Lynn loud btw if you haven't already heard me outside all the time, i've seen you a lot and never introduced myself so here I am" Lindsey shakes her sweaty palm and they both stare at each other remembering each others faces from passing glances.

Lynn has seen Lindsey before she was on a run late at night and saw lindsey sitting outside and she had her AirPods in blaring Radiohead so loud even lynn could hear it but she never said anything. Other than that she's seen her at school once and that because their school is very big and they have much different friend groups.

Lynn snaps out of her flash from the past of moments she's seen Lindsey and continues the conversation.  "well I gotta get back to practicing, I'll see ya." Lynn wished she would have said more but she needed to practice and although Lindsey seemed nice her sports were more important.

Lindsey walks back into her house sighing and giving her angry mom the mail. "I told you to be fast you know I'm late!!". Her mom keeps yelling until she leaves and when this happens Lindsey just stays silent so it doesn't get worse plus it's too damn early for that. Lindsey walks upstairs to her bedroom and lays on her bed facing her bay window. She sees Lynn playing and is immediately intrigued she can't help but wonder why lynn didn't wanna talk to her longer, She knows lynn has to practice but wish she would've given her a couple more minutes of her time.

She is busy staring at Lynn until Lynn looks up at the window searching for Lindsey and they lock eyes. Lindsey hides her face In her pillow out of embarassment but when she looks up again lynn is still looking and chuckling now she starts something which looks like  sign language but instead she mouths to Lindsey. "come over later".

Of course Lindsey is freaking out cause she doesn't know if she read her lips wrong but nonetheless she gets ready and puts on a black lace cami with some denim shorts and laces up her dirty converse and walks out to see Lynn there waiting.

She sighs out of relief now knowing she wasn't crazy and Lynn did want her over. "hey lindsey didn't know if you could read my lips down there but my mom saw us talking and asked me to ask you to come over for dinner ". Wow lindsey thinks only her mom wanted her over. "and of course I said yes cause I wanted a new friend" Lynn continues making lindsey feel better about it.

Dinner is going good, the awkwardness between them has faded with the help of lynn's nine siblings. Luna has taken a liking to lindsey and was joking around about how she had ran into her at the pool once but never said anything cause she was yelling on the phone.

They had all finished eating and Lynn looks over at lindsey with her arms crossed staring at her empty plate. "um would you like to go up to my room looks like you'll fall asleep if i keep you here any longer" lynn says raspiness in her voice with a tone of humor.

"why yes that would be nice" she says following the brown haired girl up the stairs and into her shared room. Lindsey immediately looks around the jocks room to see a lot of awards and jerseys from her multiple sports scattered about. "nice room" she says plopping onto her bed.

"thank you it's not very tidy as you can tell plus I share it" Lynn chuckles and plops down next to the blonde girl. Their bodies touch at the sides and without thinking they both get closer. The feeling between them is immediately electric and Lindsey breaks the tension. "I wish we would've met earlier you're pretty cool lynn". she says turning her face to the girl.

"i'm surprised we haven't but i'm always at games and tournaments so makes sense i'm always busy". Lynn responds back staring into the eyes of the girl laying next to her.

Lynn's presence makes lindsey comfortable, comfortable to sleep so that's exactly what happens. Lynn keeps talking to her when she realizes she isn't responding and is asleep. Lynn rests her head on Lindsey's shoulder and they fall asleep together.
