Chapter 5: How Many Minutes Do I Have... With You? Part 1

Notes: Sorry for the delay of this story! Kinda lost the inspo for it but I'm pushing thru T_T

As soon as the two hedgehogs made their way inside the ebony one's house, Shadow collapsed himself onto his couch. Sonic was quite amused, guessing the ebony hedgehog remembered his housing setup by muscle memory.

"Nice place you got, Shads..." Sonic tried to break the tension between the two. The azure one just stood there, feeling like an invader in Shadow's house.

Shadow just grunted back, not looking in the blue blur's direction in any way.

"So..." Sonic sat next to the ebony one, "What do you wanna do?"

After a few moments of silence, Sonic huffed, "How long are you gonna pout, Shads? I said I was sorry!"

The ebony hedgehog looked away. "I'm not mad at you." was he could muster.

Before Sonic could respond, Shadow muttered something about heading to his room and walked away. The azure one was left clueless in the living room, alone with his thoughts. He felt like a jerk. Why do I keep forgetting? Sonic bit his tongue, holding back tears. There was not sense in crying about it. It was obvious that Shadow wanted some space. So all he could do now was the one thing he couldn't stand: Wait.

Sonic could tell that Shadow was avoiding him. Every time the azure came the ebony one's way, his ears would twitch and he'd either walk away or chaos control to his room. Sonic still didn't know what the problem was. Shadow said he wasn't mad, but he sure as hell acted pissed.

Since there wasn't anyone to talk to, the azure one spent most of his time clean the house and such. He'd sweep the floors, tidy the kitchen after he cooked, and dusted a few times just because he was bored. Shadow didn't exactly need to eat and Sonic did offer but he always refused. The blue blur thought he was going to go crazy if he didn't have anyone to talk to.

He needed advice from someone. Someone who knew how to handle... emotions because it certainly wasn't Sonic. 

Tails? No, he didn't really know Shadow on that deep, personal level and the young kitsune was too young to ask for that kind of advice. Amy? Certainly NOT. Sonic didn't want to have deal with her attempting to flirt with him every 2 seconds and being clingy as fuck. It wasn't that he didn't like her, she was like a sister to him! But he just didn't like-like her. Rouge was probably his best bet. She was sensible in some ways, and she knew the most about Shadow then anyone else did. He didn't exactly know if she wasn't busy or not but it was worth a shot.

He quietly walked outside, slowly closed the door and stood on the front porch. The leaves were finally starting to fall after such a brutal summer, but that didn't change the fact that it was still hurrciane season. He decided to call and chat with Rouge on the porch because he didn't want Shadow snooping in on there conversation.

Sonic dialed the number and a sweetly succulent voice filled the speakers of his phone:

Rouge: "Hello, Big Blue, how are you, hun?~"

Sonic: "To be honest... Not so good..." He looked around to porch, not to find anyone around.

Rouge: "Let me guess, Shadow's giving you a hard time?~" 

Sonic: "More like giving me bullshit. I don't know what to do, Rouge. You seem to know Shadow the best, so..."

Rouge: "What's the problem?~"

Sonic: "Well, I-I screwed up, Rouge-" His voice cracked from the emotion but he quickly swallowed back the tears that were forcing there way to come out. "He's keep avoiding be and hiding in his room..."

Rouge: "Hmm. He's trying to run away from his emotions again. I told him he can't do that... not after-"

Sonic: "After what? Rouge?" 

Rouge: : "Oh shit, I've already said too much..." The ivory bat pondered, "It's not for me to say. He'll tell you in his own time. Buh bye, Big Blue."

Sonic: He heard the flat dial tone and said anxiously, "After what? Rouge? Hello??"

The azure stood there in the cool wind, clueless as ever. What exactly was going on with Shadow?
