Marina City was in turmoil. The once lively and bustling atmosphere of the Aisle Annual Swim Festival had turned into a scene of chaos and horror. Within hours of the incident, news of the gruesome attacks had spread like wildfire. The once-calm waters of Marina Bay were now infamous, and the media swarmed the area like bees to honey.
Reporters from various news channels jostled for position, cameras flashing and microphones extended. The scene was a flurry of activity as journalists scrambled to get the latest updates, interview survivors, and capture the unfolding drama.
Among the many news outlets present, one channel stood out: Marina Today. Reporter Maya and her cameraman John hurried through the crowd, trying to piece together the events. They questioned bystanders, their faces etched with fear and shock.
"Can you tell us what happened?" Maya asked a bewildered spectator, but before the person could respond, John spotted Eva Maria sitting in a corner, wrapped in a blanket. Her eyes were wide with fear, and she trembled visibly.
Maya and John approached her gently. "Eva, can you tell us what happened out there?" Maya asked softly. Eva, struggling to find her voice, took the bottle of water John handed her and drank it down in one gulp. She took a deep breath, trying to steady herself.
"Just ten minutes ago, it was full of joy and laughter," she began, her voice shaky. "But now... it's like a nightmare. I couldn't save anybody. They were all turning lifeless while I stood in the middle, helpless."
Maya attempted to ask more questions, but the coastal police intervened. "It's wise to interview somebody else," an officer advised. "She's mentally shaken to the core."
Not deterred, Maya spotted James Gallagher hiding in his cabin. They made their way over and found him in a state of shock. "James, what exactly happened? What did you see?" Maya pressed.
James, pale and sweating, could barely breathe. "Please, leave me alone," he pleaded, his voice cracking. "I'll donate the money to every family here, just please leave me alone!" His desperate cries were broadcast live, capturing the raw panic of the situation.
The commotion caught the attention of the FBI agents on the scene. Maya, seizing the moment, took over the microphone. "This is a tragedy," she said, her voice filled with urgency. "But what's more tragic is the lack of response from the FBI."
Back at FBI headquarters, the comment did not go unnoticed. The senior officer, watching the broadcast, called for an immediate meeting. "We need someone who can handle this without any mistakes," he demanded.
His subordinates nodded in agreement. "There's someone with an impressive track record," one of them said. "Her name is Serena Blackwood."
