Chapter Six: Fighting Sho-wait what? Mega Lucario?
During a training session. Glorias Abra evolved. Ash was happy, but his pokemon were not. They pushed themselves more and more. Every one of them learned powerful moves, getting stronger, but they didn't evolve somehow. It was frustrating for them, but they got over it, happy they learned more moves. Marnie commented that they could easily take out a fully evolved. Bonnie thought that they weren't evolving because they weren't ready, as their next forms were so powerful that they weren't prepared.
On the way to the next gym, Gloria and Marnie mostly stuck together. Ash had Knight on his shoulder and Crooked flew around with Croc on her back practicing his moves. Fallen Angel was in the shadows, practicing sneaking around. Firestorm was walking by Ash's legs, trying to get used to the move Flamethrower. Suddenly, Crooked let out a caw, signaling something was coming.
Crooked flew down, getting in a battle position. Angel and Croc got moves ready while Knight was getting ready to Pounce. Ash had a hand on Absol's pokeball just in case, while Bonnie, Marnie, and Gloria had their guards up. Firestorm put fire on her hands, pounding them together to make a makeshift fire punch.
A Lucario burst through the trees in front of them, followed by a blonde girl on roller skates. Crooked and Croc growled, a sign they were hostile. Ash let out Absol, the pokemon looked at Lucario, and turned his head with little interest. Ash took this as a sign that pokemon were easy pickings. Lucario glared at Harbinger, shooting an aura sphere at it. Fluttermane took the sphere instead, doing zero damage. Angel and Croc activated Psybeam and Aerial Ace.
???: Lucario, be nice!
Ash: Who are you? Fallen Angel and Killer croc must realize she's a fighting trainer. Gym Leader? No, Harbinger said she's no threat at her current level. Perhaps a connection? (Whispers) Firestorm, ready Fire Spin.
Korrina: Hi, I'm Korrina! This is my ace pokemon Lucario! I'm the third gym leader!
Gloria: (Whispers) Why is he so tense?
Marnie: (Whispers) We're not loved, or even liked, in this world. So every time an unknown person is here, his pokemon's job is to find out if friend or foe. Fighting specialists hate us the most, along with Psychics. Dark and Ghost trainers genuinely stick together, strengths in numbers.
Ash: Ok, nice to meet you. I'm Ash, behind me is Marnie, Gloria, and Bonnie. What do you want?
Korinna: Well, the gym leaders have been talking. Apparently two kids named Ash and Marnie, dark trainers, though the boy is a ghost trainer too, have been in Kalos. They beat the first two easily, and the boy is nice. So, I have a question for these two.
Ash: (Whispers) When I say so, fire. Harbinger and Crooked, guard.
Korrina: Can you help me grow stronger?
Ash: What?!
In surprise Firestorm accidently shot out the fire spin. The Dark Knight reacted quickly, using agility to make a small tornado to disrupt the flames. Lucario and Korrina weren't even paying attention, both looking at Ash with shining eyes, wanting to know. Crooked, Firestorm, Harbinger, Angel, and Croc were surprised. Ash waved his hand behind his back, making his pokemon drop their guard. Crooked, with Croc on her back, flew back up. The others went back to what they were doing, though Harbinger was watching carefully.
Bonnie and Marnie had shocked expressions, both used to people not liking Marnie and Ash. Gloria was confused why they were shocked, but knew being a dark trainer most likely wasn't an easy life, especially in the region that discovered fairy types. When Ash looked in her gray eyes, he knew that she was truthful.
