it was 11pm on a tuesday. yumi was (very loudly) talking to some friends over discord; larry was sleeping, when was he not; isaac was locked in his room editing; nick was out doing god knows what. all of which was normal in the group house. except, for some reason, tanner was sick of it. he lied in his bed, eyes trained on the ceiling as his brain seemed to leak out of his skull.

his phone had gotten uninteresting awhile ago, leaving him understimulated and bored out of his mind. the quiet music flowing from his setup didnt do much to drown out yumi's yelling, but tanner didnt mind all that much. it was almost endearing, hearing the excitement in his voice while he talked to the people he didn't live with. tanner wanted to get on a call himself, but the friends he talks to outside of the house all happened to be busy today.

he wasn't mad at them, just slightly frustrated at the lack of things to do. he wasn't gonna bother yumi while he talks to his friends, hell no. that felt wrong, to ask someone who's already with people to stop and hang out with him instead. waking larry just to talk also didn't seem right, especially with how tired he's been as of late. nick didn't even say where he was going when he left, which just leaves isaac. isaac...

he wouldn't mind, right?

hell, he might even appreciate the break from editing; he hadn't come out since lunch. a few minutes of internal debate had tanner pacing, but he finally decided to go anyway. if isaac was busy, he'd just head back to his room and find something else to do. he pushed himself up and off the bed, then opened his door and made his way down to isaac's.

he hesitantly knocked on the door a few times, but didn't get a response. isaac probably had his headphones on. tanner's hand made contact with the cold metal of isaac's doorknob, and he twisted it without thinking. the door creaked open, apparently isaac had forgotten to lock it back, shedding light on the tall man. he was slouched in his chair, elbows on his desk and head in his hands.

his monitor was off, proving he hadn't been editing for at least the past 15 minutes and leaving the room in nearly total darkness. tanner couldn't help but tilt his head and smile at how he failed to follow through.
after the door passed a certain threshold, it made a loud creak, alerting isaac of his presence. his head snapped up and out of his hands, and his eyes met tanner's. they had the look a kid's would have after being caught stealing candy. he slid his headphones off and sat them down on his desk. "hey isaac," tanner grinned, "how's the editing?" isaac just sighed and pushed himself away from the desk to face tanner. "awful. i can't focus on shit," he said with a roll of his pretty green eyes that were barely visible in the low light. "dude, you need a lamp in here," tanner jested, ignoring isaac's complaint and the obvious aura of frustration. isaac let out a loud groan before turning his attention to the small lamp on his bedside table. tanner followed his gaze. "there's one over there, i just... i don't know. i just don't have the motivation to get up and turn it on i guess." tanner shook his head affectionately before walking all the way into isaac's room to click on the lamp. it bathed the room in pale yellowy light, better defining isaac and everything in his room. isaac looked up and gave a small, thankful smile. "so, uh, what'd ya need?" he hummed, resting his arms back on the table. "uhh..." tanner stuttered, suddenly self conscious about interrupting isaac because he had nothing else to do. his gaze dropped to the ground in an almost shameful fashion as he spoke.

"so uh, i was kinda just really bored and i didn't want to bother larry or yumi so i-"

"oh, but it was okay to bother me?" isaac cut him off sarcastically, but tanner was too flustered to catch the joke in his tone.

"no, no it's not, i'm really sorry isaac, i'll leave-"

isaac interrupted him again with a shake of his head. "dude, no, i was joking. it's alright man, i wasn't doing anything to be honest," he sighed and stood up, stretching his back. tanner lifted his gaze back up and met isaac's eyes. he gave a gentle smile before walking over to his bed where tanner was standing.
