I am alive. I am alive. I am alive

I am alive, and I can't believe it. The car is still chasing me.

James shot at me, but the bullet didn't reach me. I was shocked. What had happened?. But it didn't give me enough time to think. There were a lot of gunshots, I ducked and found cover and quickly took out my gun.

I looked over to James, who was under his table with his gun. Soon, all the red dots disappeared. I had to act quickly

There were about 10 guys based on the sound of footsteps. I had to run,so I quickly ran over to James and grabbed him, and ran. A guy
shot at me, and I shot back. It hit him, and he was out. But the other guys were at our tail.

"James, get in." I said, shoving him into the passenger seat

I quickly got into my side and started driving off. A lot of bullets hit my car. Damn this is gonna cost a lot of money to fix

What the he'll was I doing saving James. He just shot at me. I am crazy. But then I looked at my rear mirror. There were 4 black cars chasing us

"James, who is that?" I ask

I look towards him when he doesn't reply, and I see blood on his side, his breathing hard. I didn't notice it. He was shot.

"Claire let me out,"
"No, you think you will live in that condition."
"DAMN IT CLAIRE JUST LET ME OUT," he screamed at me.
"I am not letting you out. Now help me who is chasing us? "
"How the hell should I know?"
"James, can you see, you're not dizzy, right?"
"I'm fine." He groans

One of the cars speeds up to me,but I speed up faster. I speed my car into an alley and stop there. I had to deal with this. The cars stop just outside the alley. I get out with my gun and walk towards them. A man with a beard greets me

"Hello miss,the sir is waiting for you."
"Who do you mean?"
"You'll see, miss."

He leads me to the car. Just outside the alley. I take note of all the guys there. I make sure no one goes to my car. I am waiting for him to step out the one who shot at us.

Then he stepped out,he was wearing a black suit with a black coat. He wore sunglasses, so I didn't recognise him quickly. His black wavy hair dropped messily to his forehead, and his blue eyes stared directly into mine. And he smiled. Ashton smiled.

"Hello Viper," he said

I went through all five stages of shock right then and there. If there are five stages of shock, that is.

"Excuse me?"
"You heard me,"
"Ashton Carter. Who are you? "
"I'm Ashton Carter,don't you remember me?"
"Not that. What impact is what the hell you are doing? Why are you here? Why are you chasing my car?"
"Slow down, beautiful. I'll explain"

I was pretty sure Ashton could see the shock on my face, but then suddenly I was angry. Did I make a slip up. How did two people know my identity

"Explain," I say, holding my gun up

Ashton quickly puts up his hands in defence.

"Woah, Claire, calm down. Will you. You can't win anyway. There are like 10 guys around you. "
"You think I can't handle 10 guys?"
"You sure can... but you can't handle me."

For some reason, I didn't think he was bluffing. I put my gun down.

"Claire, I need you to do something for me. Would you do that?"
"Well, it depends."
"Do it, or I'll kill your father."

I stare at him in disbelief. He seems so nonchalant.

"Just kidding, Claire."He says
"Ashton,what do you want?" I ask,anger flaring through me

I hate this situation. I hate that I'm not able to do anything. I hate that my identity is revealed. I hate this smiling idiot in front of me who is threatening me using my father. I hate my life in this moment.

"So to get to the point," he says, walking around and then finally sitting on the hood of his car.
"I need you to send James to jail." He says nonchalant. His eyes never left mine.
"Why should I do that?"
"Because I want him gone,"
"And if I don't do that?"

He sighs, then he says, " Well, then I'll just kill you and him,also your da -"

"Fine, I'll do it." I say. I have to protect my father and for that I'll do anything. I can't lose one more person.
"Good."
"But this will be the last ordeal we have. You'll leave me alone after this, do you understand?"
"That's gonna be a no. You see,I'll just explain everything to you because I'm very kind, " he says. I scoff at that and roll my eyes.

He sighs and then smiles at me. Then he says,

"You see,James and I don't get along well, and my people and I don't really like it. If we can remove him out the way. It's easier for business, and most importantly, I get his favourite Viper."
"Me?"
"Yes, you. All our plans were thrown out of proportion by you. You destroyed everything. But James doesn't deserve you. You're way too talented for that"
"Which gang...who are you?"
"I would be the the leader of the mafia 'Carheral."
"What?"

I was shocked. There is no way he is the leader of Carheral. The mafia gang that I have wronged so much. Guess I'm dying today

Carheral was a new gang. It wasn't a gang like Blackstrong who had been here for generations. Carheral quickly became a big enterprise. They handle almost all the business on the east side of the city. But they could never take over the North. The North belonged to Blackstrong.

That's probably why Ashton is making a move like this. With James gone,he can finally take over everything.

"So I have a deal for you. My aim is to own the entire state,to have a monopoly everywhere. And for that, I need your help. Your skills"
"And why should I do that?"

He walks over to me and bends up to my ear,brushing it slightly, and then he whispers.

"You help me, and I help you kill Cain Quel."
"Let me ask you. Isn't it better to kill James right now?"
"Well, it is, but we want to avoid a war. Aaron won't sit there doing nothing if he finds out."
"But Aaron is no longer here,"
"You are underestimating his power. He is much more powerful than me at the moment, even without having fewer connections here."
"But he will know you're the one who blackmailed me and put James in jail."
"Sweetie, what blackmail are you talking about? You are going to betray Blackstrong and put James in jail all on your own decision."

That's when I realised. His plan is not for him to go against Blackstrong as that can create a war. But instead paint me as a traitor. Have me betray James and Aaron.

"So that's your plan? I betray them and come with you, and instead, you'll give me information on Cain Quel. Isn't that right?"
"Yes.." He says,his eyes suddenly serious

A moment passes. I think of what to do next. I'm angry at my own incompetence. If I put James in jail,Aaron will definitely come after me. It helped that he didn't know my real identity, but now I'm not so sure.

"So what is it? Will we have to kill your family or will you take the offer?. To be honest Claire if you do take our offer,you can escape that pitiful gang and join ours and also you can kill Cain. That's your goal?"

"I need time to think it over,"
"Alright...I'll give you 2 days to think it over. If you don't decide by then,I'll kill you. You must know that if you're dead,I am capable of jailing him myself.

After saying that he walks away and gets into his black BMW,he doesn't turn to look at me.
