=AEVERIE=

I laid down on the bed with a deep sigh. It's been days since i've been back here in Mirkwood. I should be happy at least for the surviving people of Willowmere for the help that the woodland elves have given to us. The elven king took us in and has offered his kingdom for us to live in. I should be happy... Perhaps, i'm relieved, but not happy.

The painful memories still linger in my mind, threatening to resurface again once triggered. My head is aching and my eyes are tired from crying. I wanted to do something, I wanted some kind of distraction from the pain and grief of losing my loved ones and my beloved kingdom. And the only thing quite appealing to me at the moment is the bottle of wine sitting on the tray of food that was brought in for me awhile ago.

I took the bottle and the goblet beside it, pouring myself a large amount of wine. This is better than bombarding my mind with painful memories, i'll just have to drink myself to sleep.

THE next morning comes and when I finally wake up, the light streaming in my room tells me it is late afternoon. I rubbed my temples, feeling a minor headache from the bottle of wine that I cleared last night. I stretch my aching muscles and rub the sleep from my eyes.

I sighed, I had a dreamless sleep last night and it somehow relieved me. But waking up now, pain comes flooding back with the memories of all I've lost and I find myself wishing I was still asleep. Eyeing the nightstand, I sigh at the empty bottle lying on it's side. Forcing myself to move, I cross to the door and peek outside. The guard standing to the left of the door got startled when he saw me.

'I-is there something that you need, princess?' he asks.

I stared at the handsome elven guard with my doe eyes. Elves really are easy on the eyes.. I thought for a moment, scolding myself for being silly.

'Uhmmm-actually, I would like to request for more---wine?' I answered softly, quite embarrassed to be requesting wine early in the morning. But then again, this is the kingdom of elves, time means nothing here, at least not as much as it mattered to us, mortals.

The elven guard just nodded his head lightly and I slip back into my room quite flushed. Walking lazily back to my bed, I groaned quietly and was about to sit on the bed when just then there is a knock on the door. A servant enters carrying a large platter.

'Your breakfast, princess.' The maid says, giving me a concerned look as she sets the tray on the desk.

I fixed my hair a bit and gave out a forced smile to the elven maid. 'Th-thank you..'

As the servant left, I eyed the new bottle of wine on the tray. I shrugged my shoulders and took the wine, completely ignoring the food. I sit with my back pressed to the headboard and drink away.
