Alice paced back and forth, ranting and mumbling out in the air. I wasn't completely sure she was even talking to me. "We can't just wait here like sitting ducks it isn't safe for you."
"Wait who's coming?" I asked, for the hundredth time.
If Alice had ever mentioned the name of the man who was supposedly coming for me it was lost on me. She solely kept mentioning a he.
She never paid me any mind. "I should've known this would happen. How could I be so stupid?"
Having enough of the one-sided conversation, I grabbed the end of Alice's shirt and pulled her to a stop. "Can you just slow down a little? So I can understand what's going on?"
"It's best if you don't know everything... if you just block all of this out of your mind and..." Alice's voice trailed off and she stared off into the distance. "I need to call Carlisle, he'll know what to do."
"Right. You should definitely call someone to help you." I sighed and released her shirt. Whatever was going on was all in Alice's head and there wasn't much I could do for her. She wouldn't even let me know what was going on.
Alice pulled out her phone and quickly dialed Carlsile's number. I doubted that he even had the chance to utter a 'hello' before Alice spoke. "James is coming for Aspen and I don't know what to do."
"Who's James?" I asked. I was sure I had met a James before but none that would be out to get me.
"Should we meet you guys at the field?" Alice asked. She stopped talking for a second and I could've sworn I saw her eye twitch. "I can't see anything but him and... death. I don't know what to do."
Without even saying a word to me, Alice grabbed my arm and yanked me off of the couch. I yelped, startled by how strong she was. "Can you at least let me know what we're doing?"
She ignored my request. "I'll see you soon. Bye." She hung up the phone and grabbed a pair of car keys off of a random table.
"You're not in the right headspace, maybe I should drive," I suggested. I had no idea where we were going but I was sure that I would be a safer driver especially if Alice drove anything like Emmett.
Alice scoffed and pushed me out of the house. "You drive like a damn grandma."
Grandma was a complete stretch. "I obey the law and drive the speed limit."
Alice unlocked the car door and beat me to the driver's seat. "That's not what we need right now."
"Well excuse me for being a little confused on what we need right now," I mumbled and defeatedly went to the passenger's seat. "It's just that I have no idea what's going on."
"It's hard to explain and you really don't need to know." Alice reached over to buckle my seatbelt.
"I can buckle myself up." I pointed out.
"Sorry. I'm just trying to make sure that you're safe." Alice placed her cold hand on my thigh. "I am trying to protect you. Please let me do that."
"Okay." I gave up. Whatever was going on with Alice was beyond any reason. There was no point in arguing or trying to convince her that she was acting weird. It seemed like she was sort of aware but still convinced by whatever delusions she was having. "So... we're headed to the baseball field?"
"Carlisle can help us with our problem." Alice started to drive, starting off strong by zooming out of the driveway.
"And the problem is?" I tried again. Alice sighed. "I know you want me to block all this out and follow your lead but that's not exactly working for me. I mean... I believe you and everything but... You said a guy named James is coming for me. Who's James?"
"Someone you don't want to run into. My last run-in with him wasn't very pleasant." Alice's grip on the steering wheel tightened and a troubled look appeared on her face.
"What is he to you?"
"He sometimes haunts me. I was told to let him go because he's all in my past but... here he is." Alice said somberly. Her last words were almost drowned out by the sound of the speeding car.
I gently placed my hand on her shoulder. "Let's take a deep breath and drive a little slower, okay?"
Alice glared at me. "A breath isn't needed and neither is abiding by the stupid speed limit."
"If you're going to speed at least keep your eyes on the road." I requested. Alice continued to look at me with a blank stare. Completely ignoring the road in front of us. "For someone who seems so concerned about my life you sure are playing with it."
"I wouldn't hurt you." Alice furrowed her brows and turned back to the road. Her expression quickly turned to one of fear. "Have I ever hurt you?"
"No," I assured her.
"Did I? When we were... did I accidentally hurt your arm or-" She asked.
"No, it felt good actually. I'm disappointed that it ended." I told her.
"And you thought you were straight." Alice teased.
I rolled my eyes. "I never knew how good it felt to kiss you." I was completely sure that I was straight... until today happened.
Alice smirked. "Maybe I should've gotten you a scarf before we left the house. I've left a few marks on your neck."
I shrugged. "You were in a rush. Which you still haven't explained by the way."
"I've already told you more than I'd like you to know." She said.
"I understand that. But I'm the one who's in danger so I should be the one to decide what I should and shouldn't know." I pointed out.
"We're almost there. Carlisle will know what to do and how to help." That signaled the end of the conversation. I just shut up and looked outside the window.
Alice was right, it wasn't long before we arrived at the field and the Cullens were there to greet us.
Carlisle, Edward, and Alice formed a little group to discuss the situation. "What did you see?" Carlisle asked.
"I told you what I saw." Alice scratched her arm. "James and death. I only know what the vision meant because of how I felt."
Carlisle put his hand on Alice's shoulder. "Everything is going to be okay, Alice. We'll figure this all out, together as a family.
"If James is hunting you and Aspen why would you come around Bella?" Edward asked, angrily.
"Are you fucking serious?" Emmett asked.
"He's right. How do you know that James won't meet us here?" Jasper asked.
Alice shrugged. "I don't. I don't know anything. That's what I'm trying to tell you. That's why I'm here."
Bella tapped on my shoulder, taking my attention away from what the others were talking about. "How are you holding up?"
"I'm perfectly fine," I said.
"You're not scared?" Bella asked.
"Oh, I am." A confused look spread across Bella's face. "I'm scared for Alice," I whispered.
Bella nodded understandingly. "You should be more worried about yourself." I was glad that she kept her voice low as well.
I glanced at Alice who was now arguing with Edward, but they were whispering as well so I couldn't determine what they were saying. "Is Alice okay? Like mentally?"
"Um..." Bella's jaw dropped.
"I'm serious Bella. Does she have any mental health issues?" I asked again.
"Yikes, Firecracker." Emmett whistled. I looked around and everyone was staring at me. Even Alice, who seemed hurt.
"Everyone can hear you," Bella told me.
Despite what she said I continued to whisper to her. "But I whispered."
"Whispering is pretty void in a crowd full of vampires." Emmett laughed.
"Vampires?"
