Love Bites
The alarm clock ringing throughout the cathedral dorm woke me from my slumber, and I yawned and stretched my arms over my head. Another day of classes, followed by inspecting one of the houses at Darkwick Academy was the usual agenda. I had dressed, grabbed my textbooks and headed for the campus. Now, it was the lunch hour break, and I still hadn't heard any details yet regarding the evening.
Which one is it going to be today? I had mused to myself that morning as I got dressed. So far, I had the pleasure of working with Jabberwock, Vagastrom, Frostheim and Hotarubi. As well as Obscurary. So I figured I might be inspecting one of the houses I hadn't yet worked with.
The lunch break came and went, without any notice. At this point, I was starting to think that my
Inspection duties weren't required this evening after all. As the class day drew to a close, I had grabbed some food from Sho's food truck, and headed in the direction of the old cathedral dorm. I planned to change clothes and head over to give Haru a hand with the anomalus wildlife at the Jabberwock Zoo.
Unlocking my door, I dropped my keys on the kitchen table and kicked off my shoes. Jumping into the shower, I washed my hair, lathered and scrubbed myself with some lightly scented soap, rinsed off and wrapped myself in a large plush towel, drying myself off
I had finished drinking a small bottle of water and, wearing only panties and in the midst of pulling an oversized sweater over my head when I heard the sound of a wallet chain and the scrape of shoes on the wood floor.
Hurriedly, I turned around to see Taiga, his back leaning against my sofa, legs stretched out, his yellow-green eyes alight and fixated on me, like a predator staring down its prey.
"Well, hello kitty...so this is where you've been living..." he intoned in a low voice, before he rose to his feet. He's easily six feet if not taller, I realized with a shiver, and one of the most feral ghouls on campus. Our previous encounter was ingrained in my memory, and now here he was, in my room.
He crossed the room with little effort, his wallet chain ringing its own song as he came to stand in front of me, my back to my kitchen table by this point. I had unconsciously backed away from him without even realizing it.
I was also slightly annoyed at the intrusion, and allowed my voice to show it, even though I knew he likely had either his revolver or machine gun with him on his artifact chain. The wallet chain he had was too loud to just be the only chain on him.
"How long have you been in my room for, and what do you want, Hoshibami?"
Huffing out an exaggeratedly annoyed breath on purpose, I just leveled the question at him.
His eyes momentarily narrowed, as he leaned in towards me so we were eye to eye.
"That's a nice tattoo on your upper back...how long have you had it?" he salaciously smiled out the words. And in the next split second, my ass was on the table and Taiga was positioned between my thighs, his hands on the table on either side of me.
If it were any other ghoul, the situation could be mildly bad. But Taiga wasn't just "any other ghoul". He was reckless, volatile and probably the worst possible ghoul to be caught alone with.
And currently, I was not only alone with him, but unexpected anywhere else for a while yet, so if I didn't show up, my absence likely wouldn't even be noticed for hours.
His voice brought my mind out of its thoughts and back to the immediate situation at hand.
"So, kitty.. Where'd you get that tattoo, hmm?"
