Chapter 2- Who is that man?

The moment I opened my eyes I saw colors just floating around me and Stanford writing something in his journal.

Mabel: „Mr. Stanford? What just happened? Are we dead?"
I asked him. I was so afraid, more than I have ever been. I was floating in some colorful world, with a strange man and nothing but my grappling hook in my pocket.

Stanford: „Oh thank God you're alive my child! I was so afraid that you won't be able to take the pressure from the portal. Are you feeling alright?"

Mabel: I guess I'm alright, well maybe except for the fact that we are in the middle of nothing and with no way of escape!"
I didn't mean to shout at him, he seems like a nice guy, but this question was so out of touch. I've never even thought, that anything like this was possible, but here I am. In the middle of nothing with a strange man that's supposedly my great uncle. I miss grunkle Stan and Dipper. We were inseparable for the entire summer, and now I probably won't ever see them for the rest of my life.

Stanford: I understand that you're upset kid, but please listen to me. I know that the situation we are in may seem unsolvable, but I've already been there. We won't crush, cause there's nothing below us. I have my bag where I carry everything that's important for us to get out of this infinite fall. Just give me a couple minutes."

The only thing I wanted in that moment was to lay in my bed, talk to my twin brother and hug my pet pig Waddles. I guess I won't be able to do that for a while. As he was doing some weird science things I started to look around me. These colors around us were beautiful. It was as if we were in the giant kaleidoscope. I was hypnotized by this view and after a while I heard a shout that snapped me out of that trance.

Stanford: I got this kid! We will travel to the place that is more able to keep us alive! Are you ready?

Before I got to answer I saw a portal below and my back hit the hard ground.

We were in a pretty normal looking place. We landed on a giant field with nothing but grass around us. I looked at Stanford confused. How did he do that? Can he travel through other dimensions however he wants to? Does that mean that we can go back home right away?

Stanford: „Mabel, are you feeling alright? It was pretty hard landing I hope you didn't brake anything." I could see that he was really worried about me. It was nice to know, that even tho I'm far away from home, there's someone who cares about me.

Mabel: „I'm okay, but how did you do that? Just a second ago we were in the middle of nothing and now we are in the place that looks just like earth. Does that mean that you can take us back home?"- I asked joyfully and full of hope.

Stanford: „Unfortunately kid, but it's not that simple.  I'm not as smart as you think I am. All my knowledge about other dimensions and how to travel around them comes from the demon that I made a deal with when I was young and stupid- I could see, that his expression drastically changed and he become really sad and embarrassed- He only showed me how to travel so I could help him. He didn't tell me how to navigate, so every time I'll manage to make a portal, we will go to some random dimensions. The chance that we get home is almost zero, since there's infinite dimensions. I'm sorry kid."

To be honest I didn't understand what he was saying. The only thing I knew for sure, was that we won't be able to go home anytime soon.  It was a devastating thought, but I guess it was my new reality.

After some time of just looking at Stanford writing and calculating something that I didn't understand I started to think about his past. He came out of nowhere and within a couple minutes he had turned my world upside down. He built things that allows him to travel throughout the multiverse, but he can't control where the portal would take him? I wasn't buying it. He said something about some demon that manipulated him into this, but he is supposed to be the smartest man alive and he got manipulated just like that? I swear this man is hiding something and I'm gonna find it out sooner or later. I guess Stanford could see that I was looking at him and started talking to me.

Stanford: „Are you feeling better yet? I can see that you're really concerned. Do you need me to answer some of your questions? I guess you want to hear some answers."

Mabel: „Heck yeah I do. I mean it's not an everyday situation for me to be with a strange man somewhere where I can't ever get in touch with my family."

Stanford: „I know and I am so sorry for that. I shouldn't have build that devilish machine in the first place. What did I think? Did I think that a flying yellow triangle will make me the smartest man in the universe? Oh gosh I'm such an idiot."

„A yellow triangle?" This was reminded me of someone but who?

Mabel: „Bill?"

Stanford looked at me with a fear and curiosity. Within a second I could see his forehead getting really sweaty. What did bill do to him? What is his past with this horrible creature?

Stanford: „You know him? But how? Did he do something to you or your family? How do you know him? Answer me Mabel! Please tell me you didn't make a deal with him!

The moment he started shouting I was got really scared of him. I hated when someone was raising voice at me, I was a sensitive person, and because of all the stress I experienced that day and all the torning emotions inside me I started crying like a baby. I could see Stanfords gaze softened and he moved closer to wrap his hand around me.

Stanford: I'm sorry Mabel, I didn't mean do be so harsh. I know that you're really stressed right now and I should make that worse, but I need to know. What do you have to do with Bill?

I hesitated before the answer, because what if he's gonna be mad? Is he going to kill me? He doesn't seam like the type of guy that cares for anyone's life. Even tho I was kinda scared I answered honestly.

Mabel: „He was harassing me and Dipper for the entire summer. We defeated him twice, but he was always hunting us in our dreams to this day."

I could see that Ford was really worried, but also impressed but what I have just said. I guess it didn't mean that he was going to kill me after all.

Stanford: „That's amazing that you and your brother managed to defeat him. It unfortunately doesn't mean that he is dead tho. It's possible that he's gonna look for us, but he can't really travel between universes, so if we won't summon him we'll be okay.

I was glad that this horrifying demon isn't going to bother us for now. That was really good news, but he can be in Gravity Falls right now. What if he's going to hurt my brother? Oh I wonder what is he doing now. I hope he doesn't blame himself. I love him so much, and I don't want him do waste his life just like uncle Stan did.
