📆 the next day.
leehan stood in front of oscorp tower, fidgeting with his dad's old glasses, the frames slightly too big for his face. he craned his neck, staring up at the towering glass structure before him. the lobby swallowed him whole as he stepped inside, eyes wide and mouth slightly open, hands clutching his backpack straps like a lifeline.
"can i help you?" the receptionist's voice pulled him back to reality. she barely glanced up from her computer screen, her expression as unamused as her tone.
"oh, um..." leehan stumbled over his words, nerves jangling. "i..i don't know, i'm here to see dr baek jihoon."
"right," she replied, "you'll find yourself to the left." after seeing how leehan's eyebrows knitted together and head tilted to the side in confusion, she spoke up again - "you're here for the internship, right?"
💡lightbulb. the realisation of a quick plan dawned on leehan.
leehan paused for a few seconds before hastily nodding his head, "yeah..yeah."
the receptionist gave him a sideways glance, skepticism etched on her face. "you'll find your badge to the left," she instructed.
"thanks," leehan mumbled, his heart drumming in his chest. the teenager moved to the table lined with badges, scanning the names with the intensity of someone who hadn't quite thought this through.
after a few awkward seconds of searching, the receptionist piped up again, "having trouble finding yourself?"
leehan's head shot up, and he gave a quick head shake, a little too fast. "nope, i'm good." he grabbed the first badge he saw: 'intern - jorge guevara.' he pinned it onto his jacket, forcing a smile. "got it."
the receptionist raised an eyebrow. "okay... mr guevara," she said, her suspicion poorly masked.
"gracias," leehan stammered, his spanish shaky at best, as he hurried away.
"de nada," she replied, still watching him with that same odd look.
