The constant repeating of the cycle, is exactly what represents Aeri's career right now. As a nurse.

“Nurse Hwang Aeri.”

There's the strict doctor, Kim Seungmin. She doesn't know why he is all grumpy in the morning, but a softie in the afternoon.

“Y-yes, Doctor Kim?”

He gave her a sharp sigh “Where's the patient list?”

Dang it.

“I forgot it.. at home.”

“I knew you would atleast say that, Ms. Short-term memory loss.”

Did he just give me an irritating nickname?

This cycle repeats almost every week. Can't blame her though, it's hard having a short-term memory. In fact, which makes the Kim Seungmin angry. Why is she even hired as a nurse anyways? That's a long story.

Aeri was checking up on patients. Some are children, some are adults. Luckily, this hospital doesn't accept aggressive and intimidating patients. That's why we can only call this hospital, peace and freedom.

Everyday, was not been stressful for doctors and nurses. Kids are easy to handle and examine, while adults are fun to talk with. It's like handling a peaceful orphanage. Except.. This one patient, who clearly got everyone's attention.

“Nurse Aeri, have you ever been assigned to assist that guy? He is so intimidating, not fit for our peaceful hospital. He's making it hell here.” Eun-bi said, Aeri's nurse friend.

“Not yet, i'll be doomed if i ever been assigned as one.” Aeri said, looking at Eun-bi

“Right? I mean- i heard one nurse got yelled by him for just giving the wrong pills.”

“What?”

“It's so unbelievable..”

This hospital has ruined its peace, just by this patient arriving. And his constant cycle of casually yelling at others.

One day, what Aeri heard, got her pale in the face. She was assigned to assist him, because others didn't wanna have the opportunity.

Aeri sighs, just accepting the offer. She CANNOT handle this type of aggressive patient, she never assisted someone with that type of character. But for now.. I think she will.

“Doc. Kim, here's the patient list..” Aeri faintly said, still feeling nervous on what was about to happen when she assists the patient who said to be hurtful.

He noticed the faint in her voice, knowing that there's something wrong/bothering her. He had to ask her. But ofcourse, he still had to hide the worry and concern he is feeling right now.

“Aeri, something wrong?”

Geez, i know that he is concerned when he uses my exact name. Without any formality..

“O-oh.. It's just- i'm the one assisting the patient. Who said to be aggressive towards others..”

He sighs, was it a dumb-founded sigh or..?

She noticed him taking his phone from his desk. Curious about his next move.

“Dad.. I'll be the one assisting the 'aggresive patient' instead of Nurse Aeri, please.”

Right, i totally forgot that the owner of this hospital was his dad. But damn- why was he suggesting that he implies assistance instead?

“.. Okay son, if that's what you suggested.”

Then, soon enough he hanged up the call without any words to say. Not even a goodbye to his dad.

He turned to look at her, as he raised an eyebrow. Before standing up and wearing his white coat.

“Well, if you still want to assist the patient.. Then you're coming with me.”

She was left dumb-founded, with him leaving her in the spot. Expecting her to follow, which she possibly did. She followed him from behind, towards the patient's hospital room. He opened the door, as he was met by the male patient's laying body on the bed. Heart rate's still clear and steady. He approached the patient with careful steps, but his expression firm and serious. Which shows that he didn't care about any aggressiveness shown by the guy.

“Hey, sir. We're here to assist you for today. How may we help yo-”

“I don't need any help.”

He was done. He is absolutely done by the patient's 'don't care' expression.

“Then why the fuck did you even come to this hospital, if you didn't need any help? Your whole existence is bullshit.”

Ouch

“Hey.. Doctor Kim-”

“I'm calm, Aeri.”

How does he know i'm about to say something including the word "calm"? Maybe.. He just knows me too well. From all those college interactions we had. Freshman.. Sophomore..

“Sir, if you're here to just be aggressive to others and hurt them constantly, i suggest you do leave the hospital. Find another place, this hospital is not recommended for people like you.” he managed to say.. With a calm attitude. Just like the Kim Seungmin she knows throughout their school years.

They both left the patient, just laying there on the bed. As he closed the door and turned to her.

“Hey, you.”

She sensed that she was in trouble, just by his firm and serious tone. She tensed up slightly, looking at him. As she watched him fix his glasses and his tie.

“Did i do great with handling the patient?”

He said.. While adding a soft, proud smile. Looking at her, as if questioning her if she's proud of him. Just like he always do when he accomplished something that isn't even a big deal.

But geez.. Him, smiling at her? It was always an occurrence, but she can't help but have the flutter in her heart whenever he smiles at her.

“Uh.. Yeah! You did.” she shoots a straight position, while looking at him. Waiting for his reaction.

He high-fived her, which was definitely unexpected but always an occurrence, which she only got to see. She's the one who only got to see this side of him. Cute.

“I knew i did.” he smiled, as he placed his hands on his coat pocket. Before turning to leave. Feigning his usual cold, straight face.

He left her standing in her spot. Which she secretly loved because he can't have a glimpse of her smiling at his actions. She smiled, like she does everyday when she got to see this side of him, again.
