Amrit was enjoying her lunch when her phone buzzed. It was a call from Veer. She felt a flutter in her stomach. They had recently become friends again, but there was a new tension in the air between them, a tension she couldn't quite ignore. She took a deep breath and answered.

"Hello, Veer?" she said, trying to keep her voice steady.

"Hey, Amrit! Main soch raha tha, tumhare saath shopping jaane ka. You know, like a friends date," Veer suggested casually, but she could hear the excitement in his voice.

Amrit was caught off guard. "Shopping? Achanak?" she asked, her surprise evident.

Veer chuckled softly. "Haan, bas aise hi socha. I know today's world isn't safe for girls, but hum jab tumhe theek lage tab jaa sakte hain," he said reassuringly.

Amrit thought for a moment. She hadn't expected this, but the idea of spending time with Veer made her heart race a little faster. "Theek hai, main soch ke batati hoon," she replied with a hint of hesitation.

After ending the call, Amrit went to her parents. "Maa, Papa, main apne ek friend ke saath shopping ja rahi hoon," she said, trying to sound casual.

Her mother looked up from her knitting, raising an eyebrow. "Kaun friend, beta? Aur uska phone number aur address kya hai?" she asked, her tone concerned.

Amrit hesitated, not wanting to reveal too much about Veer. "Umm... ek friend hai. Uska number de deti hoon," she said, quickly giving them a friend's number instead of Veer's.

Her father nodded but didn't seem convinced. "Theek hai, lekin dhyaan rakhna," he said with a slight frown.

Amrit hurried to her room to get ready. She picked up her phone and called her friend. "Sun, agar meri family tujhe call kare, toh bol dena main tere saath shopping pe gayi hoon," she whispered urgently.

Her friend laughed on the other end. "Arre, theek hai, tu tension mat le. Main manage kar loongi."

With a sigh of relief, Amrit hung up. She quickly got dressed and, taking one last look in the mirror, whispered to herself, "Bas, yeh friends date hai. Aur kuch nahi." But she couldn't help the smile that crept onto her face as she thought about seeing Veer.

Veer pulled up in front of Amrit's house, his car coming to a smooth stop. Amrit stood at the door, her heart racing, though she tried to mask it with a smile. She had been telling herself they were just friends now, but her feelings for him had quietly resurfaced, growing stronger with each passing day.

She stepped out, her eyes meeting Veer's for a fleeting second before she got into the car. He leaned casually against the door, his arms resting on the steering wheel, his gaze soft as he looked at her.

"Ready?" he asked, a smile tugging at the corner of his lips.

Amrit nodded, feeling a flutter in her chest. "Haan, bilkul. Tumhe kab se wait karna pada?"
