I'm currently on a trial mission. I've been moving through field training really fast so I'm now eligible to do more than just missions in the simulation room. They still don't send me on solo missions. I just go with an agent and observe them/help them do minor tasks. For this trial mission I was given 5 days to gather intel. It's pretty much busy work that the actual agent doesn't have time to do. The four tasks are to watch the security tape footage of the day the target disappeared, go through the mail that's been piling up at their abandoned house, read through their phone bill, and sift through their emails. I think I can do it in three days but I was sadly paired with Sebastian. They always pair us up because we're at the top of our class. He is much more relaxed and likes to takes things slow on missions but I'm the complete opposite. We always butt heads. It's the same for this mission as well.

Right now we're watching the 14 hours of train station footage. He keeps leaving to take pee breaks and to buy candy from the shop across the street. I've decided to tune him out and do my own thing. It's not the first time i've had to carry missions because of his lackadaisical approach to life.

"How many hours are left on that?" He asks as he returns to the room.

"8." I respond dryly.

"Has the guy even shown up yet? This is taking forever." He groans, taking a seat beside me to watch.

"No he doesn't show up until the last hour before closing. If you paid attention during the debrief you would know that."

"What's up your ass?"

"Why don't you go back to goofing off so I can watch this footage in silence?"

"I was going to but i think i'll stay just because you don't like it."

When we finally finish the footage we order room service. Rex is paying for it all and he grew up rich so i'm not shocked that he orders a lot. The next day we go to the target's early in the morning to steal his mail and sift through it. Whatever relevant information we find we send to the agent. Yesterday I took notes on the security tape to give the agent information about any suspicious people that arrived at the station that day. I also took notes on who was on what security guards were on shift.

"I call the right half of the mail pile."

That half is mainly magazines and newspapers.

By the time we leave the house it's the end of the day. Only some of the mail was useful. We found some letters about bills he was late on, a passive aggressive birthday card from his parents, an invitation to his exes wedding, and a rejection letter from a job office. Sebastian wants to take tomorrow off and finish the mission in 4 days but I refuse. I'm forcing him to read the debrief file and to prep for tomorrow. We have to go through his phone records and his email.

We thankfully finish in 3 days instead of 4 or 5. Getting Sebastian to work on my time is like pulling teeth. I'm just glad it's over. The second we got back to Rex he left to go hang out with his friends. It's both of our birthdays today so i assume he plans to sneak out and hang with them by the abandoned skate park. Rex doesn't really care if you sneak out as long as you don't get caught. Getting caught results in a double punishment. One for breaking the rules and another for not being stealthy and smart enough to succeed. His friend Riley invited me to join, probably because she feels bad i'm always alone, but i declined. I'm sure I can sneak out undetected but partying or even having friends is an unnecessary distraction.
