"Dear students, long time no see. Did you have a pleasant holiday? And to our new students, I am your head teacher and Potions consultant, Mina Celestia. You may call me Teacher Celestia. The new term has begun, and you have entered your third year. Let's continue to work hard."
"Teacher."
"What is it, Rachel?" Hearing Rachel's voice, a student who had received a full scholarship for three consecutive years, Celestia pricked up her ears and looked towards the girl sitting by the window. The girl had short, jet-black hair that reached her ears, and her complexion was paler than usual, making her appear exceptionally enchanting. Her eyes seemed to hold a unique significance that drew people in.
"Could I possibly get a seat change? The sun here is quite intense." Rachel was half-lying on her desk, a large book covering her head, blocking the sunlight streaming in from outside.
"But isn't basking in the sun beneficial for your health? Moreover, Rachel, your complexion seems to be lacking sunlight."
"Please, I used to enjoy the sun, but not anymore." Rachel's voice was weak, as if she were about to faint.
"What do you mean?" Celestia chuckled, thinking Rachel was being unreasonable. However, the girl indeed had the credentials to be demanding, being a prodigy. Despite her humble origins, Rachel's talent and potential could overshadow those shortcomings. After a moment of consideration, Celestia accommodated Rachel's request, moving her from the window seat to a spot against the wall, where sunlight was completely blocked.
"Now, let us commence with the first lesson of the new term: The Versatility of Magic."
What Celestia was discussing went unheard by Rachel, not because she was a poor student or had mastered the subject without guidance, but because she had more pressing matters on her mind.
"Is it true that after more than four years of being transported, it's happening now?" Rachel was speechless, feeling as if she were in a dream. Originally a mediocre otaku, she had planned to catch up on her favorite anime after work, going to bed at eleven, considering she had to work the next day. But upon waking, everything had changed.
The world had transformed, now filled with magic, dragons, and magical beasts. That would have been hard to accept but bearable, yet even her gender had changed—how was that possible?
After four long years, she had experienced more than she had in her previous life as a man. Daily life was not just about studying but also about the overwhelming workload that drove her to madness. She had gradually grown accustomed to it, but now, this unforeseen event had occurred.
A vampire, and not just any vampire, but an Ancestor, the pinnacle of their kind. The immense magic energy within her, almost overflowing, confirmed to Rachel that this was no illusion.
She had been a so-called technical stream mage; she wished she could be a mindless bombardment mage, like the Queen of Flowers, Yuuka, a master of magical artillery. However, her natural magical power was on the lower end, making it impossible to cast spells indiscriminately. She had to develop a meticulous technical style, ensuring every bit of magic was used effectively. Thanks to this, Rachel's control was exceptional; when casting the same spell, the magic and mental energy she consumed were a third less than her peers.
She had been prepared to continue down the technical path, perfecting the art of conserving magic, but now, with the sudden awakening of the Vampire Ancestor's power, she was inundated with magic energy. Rachel felt a sense of disorientation. As a Vampire Ancestor, she was immortal, meaning her appearance was now fixed, and she could not be killed, not even if torn into pieces.
"If this awakening had come a few years earlier, perhaps I wouldn't have grown so..." Rachel muttered to herself, looking down at her ample bosom beneath the desk, her mouth twitching. She remained in this daze until someone tapped her shoulder, jolting her back to reality.
"Teacher," she looked up to see it was Teacher Celestia.
"Rachel, are you feeling unwell? You seem a bit distracted," Celestia leaned down, her concern evident as she looked at Rachel. Through the narrow neckline of her shirt, one could clearly see the curves of her figure. Rachel averted her gaze uncomfortably; this was a privilege men could never experience. Celestia's lack of caution in revealing such secrets was due to her now being a woman.
"I'm fine, just a bit tired."
"Tired? Naturally, you work so many jobs and are also the student council president. You should moderate your efforts. Last month, you fainted three times from overexertion. If you continue like this..."
Celestia couldn't believe that a fifteen-year-old girl was capable of such feats. She herself had grown up in a modest household, working and studying at the same time, but even two part-time jobs had been enough to disrupt her schedule. Compared to Rachel, who held at least six jobs a day, it was a world of difference.
"I know my limits, Teacher," Rachel was aware that she was pushing herself too hard, but there was no other way. Her family needed money, the debts they owed, the mortgaged house, and the funds required to cure her sister—all of it demanded a substantial amount of money. She had been on the brink of collapse, as anyone would be under such relentless, life-draining work, but now she feared no more, or rather, she couldn't die even if she wanted to.
As a Vampire Ancestor, Rachel was well aware of their power. Yes, they had their weaknesses, but she chose to overlook them.
"Alright then, if you face any difficulties, just let me know. After all, you are my student."
Rachel agreed wholeheartedly, but she knew that her commitment was only for the present, and the future would be determined by circumstances.
"By the way, how is Belial doing?" Celestia hesitated, glancing around to ensure no one was eavesdropping before leaning in and whispering to Rachel.
"Uh, she's holding on," Rachel replied with some difficulty. She was at a loss regarding her sister's situation. She was willing to work tirelessly to earn the medical expenses, but her sister, the one directly affected, seemed quite averse to it, not to her as a sister, but...
"Is that so?" Celestia didn't press further, sighing inwardly. Such a young age, yet marred by an accident. After discussing some academic matters, Celestia noticed that Rachel was inattentive, clearly unable to focus, and decided to end the conversation.
Today was the first day of the new term, primarily for familiarizing returning students and helping new ones adjust. Thus, classes were dismissed after only the first two periods. Rachel left the classroom and hurried to the student council to arrange the opening ceremony and various departmental matters. She drafted documents and left them on the desk for the vice president to handle. After completing these necessary tasks, Rachel looked outside; the sky was growing dark. Without lingering, she left the school and vanished into the crowd.
