"Emily? Emily! Wake up! You have to get ready now if you want to reach his office on time," I slowly got up and stretched and jumped down the bunk. No time for ladders.
I washed up and brought my phone and the letter along with me. Then, a card fell on the floor. I just picked it up and quickly followed Sophine to the principal's office.
"I'll wait for you outside here. Then later we'll grab breakfast with Jason and one of his friends, okay?" She was super hype today. Probably every day.
"Sure," she wished me good luck and I headed in, sitting there for a whole 15 minutes, discussing things with Mr In. He was nice too. He even gave me an envelope containing money.
The minute I stepped out of Mr In's office, I felt a hand grabbing me and pulling me to the canteen. She's one hype person. Too hype, in fact.
The aroma of Korean food flew from the canteen. Sophine quickly dragged me into the queue by tugging my hand so hard, my hand almost fell off.
"You should try our school's Jajangmyeon, also known as Black Bean Noodles. It's really tasty! Especially if you mix it with some meat, like beef slices. Yummy!" She then gave me a bowl, a food tray and a pair of chopsticks before taking as much food as she wanted from the huge containers of food arranged in a straight line.
Like what Sophine suggested, I took a bowl of Jajangmyeon and a small portion of beef slices. I also took a small serving of some vegetable mixed with red sauce. If I remember, it was called Kimchi. I then took a bottle of banana milk and a bowl of fruits.
"Emily! I'm here!" I heard a voice coming from behind. There were a lot of students at the canteen. And from my view, I can't see any other girl or boy from my country. Looks like I'm really the only American here, just like what Mr In said.
I felt a hand tug at me. I looked at the person and look, It was YoonJae. The guy who fetched me from the airport.
"Hey," he said, looking straight into my eyes.
"Hi," I responded, trying not to blush. He looks so hot up close. Damn it.
"Do you want to join me and my friends? You look like you need a table," he pulled me out of the crowd so that we both won't get crushed in between.
"Oh, sure. I would love to," I smiled and so did he. YoonJae then lead the way to his table and I can't believe my eyes. It was Sophine and some other guy called Jason.
"Emily! Wait... YoonJae? You know her?" She asked with her eyes full of curiosity.
"Yeah. Mr In told me to fetch her from the airport yesterday. Why? Got a problem?" He asked Sophine with a smirk on his face.
"Urgh. Never mind. Come, Emily. Sit beside me," finally she made space for me and I slide in beside her.
"As you know, he's YoonJae and the guy beside him is Jason," Sophine told me while pointing at them.
"An-nyeong-ha-se-yo," I say. He just ignored me and continued to eat his food. Talk about manners.
"He just doesn't talk often. Don't take it too seriously," YoonJae says. Right.
We all talked to each other about random topics, except Jason. He just sat there, picking at his food and his head down low with his hoodie covering half his face. He's probably not a social butterfly.
Once we finished our food, we cleared our trays and made our way out of the canteen. There were lots of girls behind us taking photos of the two boys. I wonder why. Are they popular in this school? Are they the next top male model of South Korea?
I banged into a wall when I was lost in my thoughts and almost fell to the ground. I heard Jason giggling behind his huge hoodie. Hmph.
"What's so funny?" I ask Jason, folding my arms to show how pissed off I am at him. Just now was not saying 'Hi' back and now he's laughing at me? This guy has some serious problems.
"You okay, Emily? Don't be so clumsy, okay? You'll just injure yourself," YoonJae said before glancing at Jason who just turned his back to me and kept walking. Jerk.
"We'll uh, head back to our dorm. Emily and I have some things to do," Emily says, forwarding her gaze to YoonJae.
"Will you be able to come for the event at the Venils today?" Jason asked Sophine. What event? A party?
"Yeah, sure! What time?" Sophine exclaimed.
"7pm," Jason said with no expressions. What is he? An emo guy?
"Okay. See you there," Sophine then waved goodbye and both of us made our way back to our dorm.
