As Dhiraj was escorted out of Ananya's office, the atmosphere shifted dramatically. The icy coldness that had filled the room a moment ago began to thaw as Ananya's gaze softened. She let out a deep breath, her fingers lightly brushing over the documents on her desk. The hardness that had defined her during the encounter with Dhiraj melted away, replaced by a gentle warmth that seemed to fill the room.
It was as if the dangerous, vengeful Ananya had vanished, leaving behind a woman who was caring, tender, and deeply protective of those she loved.
She turned her attention to the door of the apartment that was connected to her cabin, knowing that Rihaan was waiting inside, likely unaware of the gravity of what had just transpired. The mere thought of him brought a small smile to her lips-a stark contrast to the expression she had worn mere moments ago.
As the door opened, Rihaan peeked outside, his eyes bright with curiosity. "Anya, can I come in?" he asked, his voice carrying that familiar, innocent tone.
Ananya's heart swelled with affection at the sight of him. "Of course, Rihaan. Come in."
Rihaan entered the room cautiously, his face lighting up as he saw her smile. He quickly crossed the room and stood by her side, his eyes wide with excitement. "Anya, I was waiting for you! I got bored, so I drew a picture. Look!" He held up a crumpled piece of paper, his drawing of a sun and two stick figures-one obviously meant to be Ananya, the other himself-making her smile even more.
Ananya took the drawing from him, examining it as if it were a priceless piece of art. "This is beautiful, Rihaan. You're such a talented artist."
Rihaan beamed with pride, his cheeks turning a light shade of pink at the compliment. "Really? You think so, Anya?"
"Absolutely," Ananya said softly, her tone filled with warmth. "I'll put it up on my desk so I can look at it every day."
Rihaan's face lit up with joy. "Yay! Thank you, Anya. You're the best!"
Ananya leaned and ruffled his hairs, feeling the innocence and purity that radiated from him. "No, Rihaan. You're the best."
Rihaan's eyes sparkled as he wrapped his arms around her in a tight hug. Ananya held him close, feeling a sense of peace wash over her. The world outside, with all its chaos and corruption, faded away in these moments with Rihaan. He was her anchor, her reason to stay strong, and her reminder that there was still goodness in the world.
As she held him, she couldn't help but marvel at the stark contrast between the ruthless woman who had just destroyed Dhiraj Khurana's life and the nurturing figure she became around Rihaan. With him, she could let down her guard, allow herself to be vulnerable, and simply be the caring wife that he needed.
"Anya, can we have ice cream?" Rihaan asked, pulling back slightly to look up at her with those big, hopeful eyes.
Ananya laughed softly, nodding. "Of course, we can. How about we go to the kitchen and make sundaes together?"
Rihaan's face lit up even more at the suggestion. "Yes, yes! I want chocolate and sprinkles! And maybe some gummy bears too!"
Ananya chuckled at his enthusiasm. "Whatever you want, Rihaan. Let's go."
She took his hand, leading him out of the office and toward the kitchen in the apartment. As they walked, Rihaan chatted away happily about the different kinds of ice cream he wanted to try, blissfully unaware of the storm that had just passed. Ananya listened with a smile, her heart feeling lighter with every step.
When they reached the kitchen, Rihaan immediately ran to the counter where the ice cream was kept, his eyes widening at the sight of all the toppings laid out. "Anya, look at all this! We're going to make the best sundaes ever!"
Ananya laughed softly as she watched him, her mind momentarily drifting back to the events of the day. But she pushed those thoughts aside, focusing instead on the happiness in front of her. Rihaan was her priority now-his joy, his innocence, and his love.
They spent the next hour making sundaes, with Rihaan eagerly piling on more and more toppings until his bowl was overflowing. Ananya couldn't help but giggle at the sight of him, his face smeared with chocolate as he took his first bite.
"This is so good!" Rihaan exclaimed, his voice muffled by a mouthful of ice cream. "Anya, you have to try it!"
Ananya took a spoonful of his creation, making a show of savoring it. "Delicious, Rihaan. You're a master chef."
Rihaan laughed, his face glowing with happiness. "I'm going to be a chef when I grow up! And I'll make you all the ice cream you want, Anya!"
Ananya smiled warmly at his declaration, reaching out to brush a strand of hair from his forehead. "I'm looking forward to it, Rihaan."
As they finished their sundaes, Ananya felt a deep sense of contentment settle over her. The weight of the day's events had lifted, replaced by the simple joy of spending time with Rihaan. He was her sanctuary, the place where she could find peace even in the midst of chaos.
Later that evening, as she tucked him into bed, Rihaan looked up at her with sleepy eyes. "Anya, are you happy?"
Ananya's heart softened at the question. "Yes, Rihaan. I'm very happy."
He smiled drowsily, his eyes closing as he nestled into his pillow. "Good... I want you to always be happy, Anya..."
Ananya gently stroked his hair, her voice barely above a whisper. "And I want you to always be happy too, Rihaan. Sweet dreams."
As she watched him drift off to sleep, Ananya felt a profound sense of protectiveness for the man she had married-a man who, despite his challenges, had a heart as pure as gold. She would protect him at all costs, just as she had protected herself and their future.
And though the world outside might see her as a ruthless, dangerous woman, in this room, with Rihaan by her side, she was simply a wife-a wife who cared for her husband more than anything in the world.
