The thoughts tormented him.

Thomas clutched his head, the skull aching with the guilt of his younger brother's unhappiness. The world spun in his view as he finally dropped his head onto the cold canteen table. His hands dropped to his sides, breathing heavily in and out Thomas' eyes began to focus on the girl who had been calling his name.

"Thomas " Her beautiful watercolour eyes flickered with worry.

"I'm fine." He grumbled, a tiny voice screaming in frustration at the back of his mind.

"Okay , just tell me if you need the nurse" She whispered, her eyes crinkling with her small smile.

He turned back to his ham sandwich, nibbling on the corner when a shout sounded throughout the canteen.

"Nice to see ya shank. Welcome back!" Just as a blonde boy appeared at the door, propping himself up on crutches.

"Hey Gally, did you do it ?" He said excitedly, eyebrows raised in question. Thomas noticed the British accent right away, it was much stronger on this boy than Sonya's.

"You bet we did, you should have seen their faces, oh man!" Minho exclaimed, patting the boy on the back.

"And I'm guessing that this is the infamous Newt then." Teresa sighed next to Thomas, packing up her tray and brushing down her blue jeans.

The three boys sat down at a table, the boy Newt propping his crutches up as he took a seat on the bench.

The class was silent, the only sound was the scratching of pens on paper as the 20 students filled in the empty boxes on their questionnaires. Thomas glanced up from his paper, the question spinning around his head like it was riding a carrousel, Mr Stein noticed the movement and casually strode up the isle of struggling students, his framed glasses bouncing gently on his nose as he walked. "Are you having trouble Thomas?" He questioned, his voice a soothing hum in the quiet room. "No sir, it's just taking a little longer to explain what consciousness is than expected." Thomas whispered, noticing a flash of grey as Aris stole a glance at him from across the science class, having already finished his paper. "Good, I'm glad that the question is hard for you. But Thomas, I believe you can figure it out." Mr Stein encouraged as he flicked his lab coat, spinning around on his heel to check on the other students in his Biology class.

"Yeah, go go go Tommy, figure it out!" as Thomas tilted his head to the left, he heard the voice whispering his name. His eyes flickered to glance at the boy seated near him. He was tall and slender but his hands and wrists were lithe and strong, tapping his pencil on the desk like a drummer in a band. The boy wore a small smirk on his face as he ran his hand through his golden hair that shone like the sun in the rays of the strip lights.

"Name's Newt, you look bloody confused mate, am I too alike to my twin or what?" He chuckled, shaking his head and gently returned his gaze to the paper laying before him on the desk.
