✕ TW: Cursing, flirting
It was Jiwon's second week as the new manager of the hockey team, and she was surprisingly already settling into the role. Yeah, she still had no clue what some things meant but a quick question to one of the players or Namjoon would fix it right away. Standing by the rink's edge, she flipped through her clipboard as the players skated their final laps, her attention shifting to Heeseung when he skated by, grinning.
"You know," she said, not looking up from her notes, "you're really bad at pretending you're not showing off." After what had happened last week, Heeseung returned to his usual self, playing like the skilled player that he was. His flirtiness had returned too. It may have returned too much though.
Heeseung skidded to a stop in front of Jiwon, resting on his stick, still catching his breath. "Showing off? Me?" He feigned innocence. "You wound me, Jiwon." Oh, did Heeseung love practice even more than before.
She rolls her eyes, finally meeting his eyes. "Please, I've seen the way you skate extra fast when I'm watching. Not fooling anyone." This boy was not subtle at all. Not like he was trying to be in the first place.
"Maybe I'm just naturally impressive," Heeseung shot back, leaning closer with a smirk. "Or maybe it's because I know you're keeping score."
Jiwon chuckled, shaking her head. "Of course, the scoreboard is always in your favor, right?"
"Always." Heeseung's grin widened. "But I could make it more interesting. What do you say? A private skating lesson just for you?"
She raised an eyebrow, clearly amused. "Oh, wow, so generous. But somehow, I don't think I need hockey tips from a hug who almost tripped over his own skates last week. Besides, if I wanted skating lessons from anyone, it would be Sunghoon. I heard he used to be a professional Ice Skater."
"That was one time," Heeseung protests, squinting his eyes at the mention of Sunghoon. "Besides, I blame you for that. You were staring."
"Staring?" Jiwon scoffed, crossing her arms. "If anything, I was staring at the disaster unfolding in front of me." That's right, you're not all that, Jiwon thought. But, he was all that, he was even more than that.
Heeseung stepped back onto the ice with a playful shrug. "Well, if you're so distracted by me, I guess I'll just have to skate better."
"Yeah, that'll help," Jiwon quipped, rolling her eyes with a playful smile. "Good luck with that." From the side, Sunghoon, Jay, and Taehyun watched with disgust written all over their faces.
"What the fuck, did I just witness." Jay shudders out.
"Gosh I thought it was worse at the house." Taehyun says, a judgemental look replacing his disgusted one. "Now he brought it onto the ice."
"We should've just kept letting him act like a fool two weeks ago." Sunghoon mutters, the two boys nodding along. Darn Jay and his good advice.
As practice ended, the players gathered their things, skating off the ice. One of the guys, Nicholas, called over to Jiwon as she was packing up her bag.
"Hey, we've been talking, and we're throwing a party this weekend," Nicholas said, grinning. "To celebrate our new manager–aka you–and for winning the last few games."
"A party?" Jiwon asked, looking around at the group. "Thanks. But I don't think–"
"Oh no, you don't get to skip," another teammate chimed in. "It's your welcome party. You have to come."
Jiwon shook her head with a nervous laugh. "I really appreciate it, but I have plans with a K-drama."
"Well, too bad," Nicholas said, crossing his arms. "If you don't come, we're gonna send our Captain here to kidnap you from your house."
"Kidnap me?" Jiwon raised an eyebrow, glancing at Heeseung, who just shrugged with a mischievous grin.
"I mean, I wouldn't want to," Heeseung said, trying to sound serious, "but I guess if it's team orders, I'll have no choice." Jiwon squints at Heeseung who raises both hands in surrender.
"Hey, I'm just following orders," he said, pretending to be innocent. "But, you know, I'm pretty good at showing up uninvited." Oh did she know.
Jiwon sighs dramatically. "Fine, fine. I'll go. But only if I can bring a friend."
The guys all nodded eagerly. "Deal. Bring whoever you want," Nicholas says. "But Heeseung here still had to pick you up."
"Oh, great," Jiwon says sarcastically, eyeing him. "So, you're my chauffeur now?"
Heeseung winks. "I prefer 'knight in shining armor,' but yeah, I'll take it." Making eye contact with Sunghoon, Jay lets out a fake, silent gag.
"Alright, alright," Jiwon says, finally giving in. "I'll be ready. But if you show up late, I'm staying home and watching my K-drama."
