✕ TW: Cursing, drinking
Jiwon stood in front of the mirror, smoothing down her outfit. She wore denim ripped jeans with a black ruffled top. Haneul had picked out the outfit but Jiwon thought it was cute nonetheless. Haneul, on the other hand, wore a black mini skirt and a cream sweater due to the fall season. She sat on the bed, legs swinging back and forth, watching as Jiwon checked her outfit for the fifth time.
"You look great, Jiwonnie," Haneul says. "Stop stressing. I think you'll have fun at this party!"
"What if it's awkward? What if they expect me to, like, give a speech or something?" Jiwon turns around, biting her lip. It was weird that she was worrying so much. Especially about a party.
Haneul giggles. "If they expect a speech, just tell them, 'Thanks for the party'. I don't think they would make it hard on you!" Stay pure, Haneul. Jiwon lets out a sigh, looking at the time. Just then, Haneul's phone dings. Looking at her phone, she hops off the bed.
"Hoonie says they're here!" Haneul says, turning her phone around so that Jiwon could see the message. Ignoring the message, Jiwon blinks at the nickname Haneul called Sunghoon. What the fuck is a 'Hoonie'?
"Hoonie? You guys are on a nickname basis now?" Jiwon asks, mouth open. Haneul blushes and fidgets her fingers.
"Jiwon, your friends are here!" Yelled her mom from downstairs, cutting off Jiwon's further questioning and teasing. Haneul's eyes lighten and she grabs Jiwon's hand, pulling her out of her room and down the stairs. They made their way to the front door, which was opened already, and there stood Heeseung, who was dressed in gray cargos and a black zip up, leaning casually against the doorframe with his usual playful smirk, and next to him, Sunghoon, who was dressed in black jeans and a bomber jacket with a white t-shirt underneath, offered a small wave.
"Right on time," Jiwon says, raising an eyebrow.
"Of course," Heeseung replies, eyes flicking over her outfit. "I wasn't about to be late and miss the grand entrance." Jiwon scoffs to hide the blush creeping up her cheeks. Her eyes wander over to where Haneul stood quietly, avoiding eye contact with 'Hoonie'. Heeseung notices it too and clears his throat.
"Shall we?" Heeseung says, capturing their attention. Shutting the door behind her after saying bye to her mom, Jiwon makes her way to the back of the car only to be stopped by Heeseung. She eyes him as he opens the passenger door and gestures for her to get in. Next to her, Sunghoon had opened the door for Haneul, who was now situated inside, and slid in next to her. Jiwon squints her eyes at Sunghoon before getting in the passenger seat. Oh, you are so getting teased later, 'Hoonie'. Soon, they were off, cruising through the cool autumn night.
The frat house came into view, lights already strung up, music pumping inside. As they pulled up, the front yard was packed with familiar faces–guys from the hockey team, others from the frat that Jiwon knew of, and her brother–who cheered when they spotted the car pulling up.
Heeseung turns to her with a grin. "Not gonna lie, I'm kinda jealous of how excited they are to see you."
Jiwon rolls her eyes, shaking her head. "They're probably just excited that the party is about to start."
As soon as they stepped out of the car, the guys from the hockey team gathered around, offering high-fives and pats on the back, and before Jiwon even made it into the front door, a red Solo cup was thrust into her hand. Haneul had already disappeared somewhere with Sunghoon, but Jiwon barely had time to react before Heeseung pulled her into the house. He placed her in front of him and climbed onto a chair.
"Alright, everyone, listen up!" Heeseung yells, his voice cutting through the noise. The music lowered, and the crowd quieted as all eyes turned to him as Jay handed him a red Solo cup. "Tonight, we're officially welcoming Yang Jiwon as our new team manager! And let's not forget–since she's joined us, we've been kicking ass and winning games. So, this party's for you!"
A chorus of cheers followed, and Heeseung lifted his cup that Jay had handed him even higher. "May she continue to keep us in line and keep the wins coming!" The cheers erupted louder and everyone downs their drink. Jiwon smiles, her face flushing from all the attention. I should probably say something, Jiwon thought. Lifting up her cup as well, she tries to ignore the flutter of nerves in her stomach. "Thanks, guys. I'll do my best to not let you down."
The cheer that followed was deafening, and the energy in the house was electric as the party kicked into full gear. Music blared, and soon enough, people were dancing, chatting, and playing games. Jiwon downed the drink, the liquid burning her throat as it went down. Sim Jaeyun definitely mixed this up.
Heeseung sidled up beside her, leaning in just close enough to speak over the music. "See? Not so bad, right?"
Jiwon turns to him, a teasing smile playing on her lips. "I guess. But don't think I won't hold it against you if this turns into a mess later."
Heeseung laughs. "Noted. But I'll make sure to keep you entertained. You're the guest of honor, after all."
Jiwon rolled her eyes playfully but couldn't help the smile that lingered as the night went on, her nerves slowly fading.
