Flynn had just finished writing music to play on his piano. This was his first time writing music, so naturally he was excited to play it for everyone. He got up and rushed down to the lab, where Peter and Tony were. He stood at the door to see his father admiring Peter's new suit and web-shooters. He looked down at his music, feeling discouraged. He knew his father wouldn't care that much, as he had just seen what Peter created. Tony wasn't really interested in what what Flynn was interested in. Peter glanced up to see his brother walking away. "Flynn?" He questioned, wondering why he had just walked away without saying anything. "I'm sure it was nothing," Tony said.
Flynn shut his bedroom door behind him. He laid the music on his desk and lied down on his bed. In the back of his head he felt like he was overreacting. But he thought of all the times his Dad's seemed to favor his older brother. He tried to hold in his tears but failed. He wiped them away, Its not that serious, Flynn.
Steve walked by Flynn's room with a load of laundry. He knocked on his door, "Flynn, do you have any clothes that need to be washed?" Flynn took a moment to answer. "N-No Pops." Steve began to walk away, but he noticed Flynn's voice was uneasy. "You okay in there?" He asked. He got no response. He heard faint crying. "May I come in, please?" He put down the basket and opened the door. Flynn tried to hide his face, "I'm fine, Pops, I promise." Steve sat next to him and wrapped his arm around him. "What's wrong, my boy?" he asked softly. "Why did you decide to adopt me?" Flynn looked up at him sadly. Steve stared at him with a concerned expression. "Umm.. well, you know your biological parents couldn't care for you. You've met them, you know how they live. Especially with your powers... it would've been difficult. The news came out that a couple was having a child with powers. The others were all having kids just like you at the same time... so we thought it was the perfect time to step up. We immediately felt a connection when you were born." They sat there in silence for a moment. "Do you think I'm a good enough son? Do you love me, Dad..?" Steve looked down then said, "Why do you think otherwise?" He looked back at him, but Flynn looked away. "You both don't.. give me the same attention as Peter... or not the same like how the others care for their children. I guess I'm jealous.." Flynn sighed. Steve pulled him into a tight hug. "Oh Flynn... we didn't mean to make you feel that way. I didn't mean to make you feel that way. I'm so sorry," Steve pulled away from the hug and looked at his son in the eyes. "What can I do to fix this?" He asked. "Umm.. I-" his voice cracked. Flynn looked away, hiding his tears. Steve gently cupped his cheek and wiped his tears away. He hasn't seen him cry in a while. "It's okay, Flynny. I love you. So much." Flynn hugged his dad tightly, beginning to sob quietly into his chest. "Shh.. it's okay. It's okay," Steve whispered as he rubbed his sons back.
Peter looked up from his work them towards the door. "Everything okay, Pete?" Tony asked. "Somethings wrong." He rushed out of the room. Tony followed behind. They made their way upstairs. They heard sniffling coming from Flynn's room and proceeded to enter. "What happened?" They both asked. "We.. hurt his feelings pretty badly," Steve said. Peter sat next to his brother. He tried to rest his hand on Flynn's shoulder. Flynn flicked it away. Tony stood there for a moment thinking. "Do you want me to tell me and your brother what's wrong?" He said as he pulled over a chair. He attempted to lay his hand on Flynn's. He pulled his hand away. "Don't touch me, please," he snapped. Tony jumped. "Okay- I'm sorry." He and Peter were a little confused on why Flynn would allow Steve to hug him but not allow him to hold his hand. Flynn sighed, "Dad, I just... recently I've felt that you and Pop don't.. love me like you do Peter. I- I don't know. I feel jealous. I feel like I'm not good enough for you, and that I'm just.. a disappointment. Whenever I do something or show you something, you don't care. At least not as much as in comparison to what Peter does. I'm try- I'm trying so hard to please you, and I'm exhausted. I h-hate that I feel this way, but I can't help but notice.." He began to sob again. He covered his face in embarrassment. Peter noticed the white streaks in his brother's hair become more prominent. A sign that Flynn's emotions taking over him, meaning that he was losing control of his powers. He brushed the frost out of his hair. Steve began to rub his back again, "It's okay, it's okay." Tony looked up from the floor. "Look at me, Flynn." He wiped his tears away and looked at his father. "I see you, Flynn. I'm so sorry I made you feel this way. I can think of the times when I treated you like this, and I just never realized how shitty of a father I am. When I was your age I felt the same way about my own father. I felt like I wasn't enough for him. And now I'm realizing that I'm doing the exact same thing to you that I despised him for. I promise to do better. I really do. Thank you for telling us how you feel. I'll make sure to work on it. Whenever you feel like this, or in any way not happy, you can talk to us, okay?" Tony reached over to gently lift up his son's head. Flynn smiled back at him. They both stood up and pulled each other into a tight hug. Steve and Peter chucked, then joined the hug. "Okay- okay that's too much," Flynn choked. Tony laughed and let him go. Peter walked over to the desk and picked up the sheet music. "What's this?" "That's... what I wanted to show you all. I wrote piano music for the first time." "That's amazing, can we hear it?" Steve asked. "Of course," Flynn said happily. He took the music, sat down at his bench, and began playing.
