Sloane was currently studying but a ringing coming from her phone , disturbing her do not disturb could only be one person. She leaned over her bed, swiping up to accept the FaceTime call. Paige's face appeared on the screen, her smile bright. "Hi baby" Paige greeted, her voice warm and familiar.Sloane felt a smile spread across her face instantly. "Hiii" she replied, settling back against her pillows. "What's up?"
Paige's hair was loose, curling around her shoulders, and she looked comfortably wrapped in a UConn hoodie. Sloane felt a small flutter in her chest, an easy warmth she was still getting used to whenever she saw Paige. "I just miss your face" Paige said, a playful lilt in her tone.
Sloane chuckled. "Good excuse," she teased. "you sound a little sad everything okay?"
Paige's smile faded slightly, her expression turning a bit more serious. "Yeah, just... thinking about Thanksgiving," she admitted, her fingers playing with a loose strand of hair.
"Oh yeah?" Sloane raised an eyebrow. remembering it's coming up"What about it?"
Paige sighed, her shoulders slumping slightly. "It's just... it's in four days, and I'm gonna miss you," she confessed softly, her eyes flicking away from the camera for a second, almost like she was shy about admitting it.
Sloane felt a tug in her chest. "I'll miss you more," she replied, her face holding a frown and her voice gentle. "But it's only a couple days and when we're back we can do whatever." she said teasing
Paiges face perked up slightly at the thought "doing whatever".
"I know, but it's not the same. I kinda wanted to spend it with you," she admitted, her eyes searching Sloane's face through the screen.A thought struck Sloane then, her lips curling into a smile. "Well, why don't you come back home with me?" she suggested, her voice bright with excitement. "Come back to Virginia with me and spend Thanksgiving with my family."
Paige's eyes widened. "Really?" she asked, sounding both surprised and hopeful. "Are you serious?"
"Duh," Sloane said. "I would love to have you. We have plenty of room, and we can do whatever there too." she said giving her a knowing look again.
Paige's face lit up, her smile growing wide. "okay!" she practically squealed. "wait... I don't know what to pack," she added, suddenly looking a bit frantic. "I've never been to Virginia for Thanksgiving. What do I even bring?"
Sloane laughed, charmed by Paige's excitement. "it's not like it's a different country," she teased. "Just pack what you'd usually wear, plus something warm in case it gets chilly."
Paige looked uncertain. "Okay, but I need you to come over and help me," she insisted, her tone almost pleading. "Please, Sloane? I'll make it worth your while..."
Sloane rolled her eyes knowing Paige was being dramatic but nevertheless she grinned, already feeling the pull to be closer to Paige. "Alright, alright," she relented. "I'm on my way. But you better have food."
Paige laughed. "Deal! See you soon," she said before ending the call, her face disappearing from the screen, leaving Sloane with a rush of excitement
Sloane knocked on Paige's door, barely waiting for a response before it swung open. Paige stood there, her smile wide and eyes bright. "Hey!" she cheered, grabbing Sloane's hand and pulling her inside.
Sloane laughed as Paige led her to the room. Paige's room was a bit of a mess, clothes scattered across the bed and floor, her suitcase wide open but empty.
Paige turned to Sloane, hands on her hips. "Okay, Ms. genius, where do we start?" she asked, a playful grin on her lips.
Sloane eyed the chaotic room and smirked. "First, we get rid of this mess," she teased, grabbing a pile of clothes from the bed and tossing them onto the chair. "What were you even thinking?"
