Life was funny, anything could happen and humans could not stop it. Empress Irisa's mouth opened as she saw her ones bestfriend in her husband's arms, laughing and muttering words into his hears.

Her body shook, and pain shot through her heart. It had been about a week since Aaron's return and his betrayal and she could not explain how she had survived. She was greatly saddened and lost her appetite just thinking about what Aaron had done. She locked herself in the Empress' chamber, and continued wondering if her ancestors were still with her, if they were punishing her for something she had done in her past.

Aaron had not visited once, she did not ask but Nancy would come in furious about the fact that Aaron was always in the Consort's chamber, he never went back to the Emperor's chamber or even visited her. She would sigh and continue reading whatever scroll she had been reading before Nancy's arrival, freigning ignorance.

Nancy was not trying to be insensitive, she knew her lady well, but it was painful to watch Aaron dote on another knowing how stressful Irisa's pregnancy had been. Nancy asked at some point if it was all worth it, if the humiliation was not enough for her to leave, then what was it?

Irisa knew she has to pull through, she did not know how she was going to do it but Aaron was too wrapped around Nyx's hands ti even care about Kaley or his people. Leaving meant suffering for the people.

Nancy walked into her chamber on the seventh day, she stared at Irisa, who was in her bed, reading another novel. Irisa glanced at her, she gave her an acknowledging nod, before her eyes went back to the book. It was a better distraction than sitting and reading through government scroll and her mind going back to Aaron.

"Your Excellency," Nancy bowed lightly, she walked toward her with a maid behind her with a food tray behind her.

"What is it now, Nancy? I do not wish to be disturbed," Irisa said, not looking up from her novel. Nancy sighed and pulled the novel from her hands.

"You must eat, your Excellency, you have been skipping meals which is not good for your health or the child." Nancy admolished.

Irisa sighed, what was the point of it all? She had no appetite, her mind was else where and no matter how much novel she read, she would never be able to put her mind off Aaron's betrayal.

"Leave us," Nancy commanded the maid. The maid dropped the foodtray on the bedside table. She bowed and took her leave.

"M'lady," Nancy started softly, taking her hand, Irisa did not wish to explore her emotions, she had cried for the most part of the night and was now coming to terms with the fact that her husband was not hers anymore.

"The Duke and your brothers have been demanding to see you, they want to make sure you are alright, seeing as you are pregnant." Nancy informed.

Irisa scoffed and looked away, why was the Duke demanding to see her? After everything she had been through, she did not wish to see her? Her though went to her third brother, she wondered how he must be feeling for her refusal to talk to him. Irisa had sent him various letter before his arrival in Kaley but he was not much of a correspondent.

"I know what Aaron..."

"I do not want to hear that name!" Irisa snapped, shutting her mouth. Nancy stared at her lady. Irisa was avoiding the topic. Nancy knew her lady could not stay in the Empress quarters forever.

Viron and Eli left immediately after the charade. Raymond was forced to stay and guard Aaron. He was unhappy and made sure it was known but Aaron djd not seem to care.

"I know you are hurt my lady, but.. You cannot lock yourself in here forever, my lady, you are a strong woman! You have chosen to stay when you could leave, Irisa you have to pull through, for you and your child."
