A breath of air escaped her.
Gale-like gusts billowed across the room, whipped around by the swift spinning of the overhead fan. Its spinning blades whisked refreshing air and ruffled Bumble's soft locks. Prussian blue bed linens and matching carpets wrapped the walls and floor, forming a soothing atmosphere. Though her mind was wracked by turmoil, she couldn't muster the strength to shout a single word. Her gaze constantly strayed back to a constant loop.Deceit.
The sun's rays danced across the sky, creeping through her window and sending her breath hitching. Light green hues filtered in as the branches of the trees outside parted and let in the sunlight. It danced across the dust particles that floated in the air, making them glisten as if they were the stars of the milky way.
She reminisced when she would always venture outside, watching as people chattered as her feet collided with the pavement, following alongside with her parents who always watched her like a hawk. Feeling trapped and empty, but, loved all at once. But coding was always an escape for her, a brief-euphoric temperance from the reality of her life.
The lingering sounds of a faint buzz reverberated through Bumble's ears. Her phone vibrated amongst the white table, its screen dark and unmoving. Albeit, she could've sworn it was dead. She reached for it reluctantly, intending to mute the notification. Yet she was quickly intrigued.
It was from Twitter, tagged in a fan edit. Her thumb hovered over the notification, the gentle glow tingling on her fingerprint. Absentmindedly unaware her headphones sliding off from against her brown locks. Her features transformed into one of curiosity as a subtle green light flashed. The piercing noise of a person joining the call she was sitting in permeated Bumble's ears.
"Hello?" The words oozing from Bumble's head, out her mouth.
"Bumble!" Jade replied. Then, another.
"Hi guys!" Vehndi exclaimed. "Wait, is Bee AFK?" Bumble's eyes flickered as she focused on each individual icon, her gaze darting back and forth between Jade's and Vehndi's.
"No, I just heard her speak a minute ago." Jade replied. Bumble felt her brows furrow, blue light washing across her porcelain skin.
Bumble adjusted her headphones and placed her hands on her mouse and keyboard reluctantly. "Yeah-, yeah I'm here. My bad." She apologised. Looking towards her monitor, greeted by a paused screen. Her mouse cursor gliding to un-pause the game, seeing joined messages in the chat of Jade and Vehndi.
"I forgot I still had Minecraft open." Her Minecraft character eagerly ran around the grass blocks in search of her friends, but not before her character was viciously attacked. Jade appeared out of nowhere and began punching her. Jade laughed."Have you not realized yet? You're still streaming!" Jade's voice cut through the air, a mixture of slight surprise and amusement lacing her words as she spoke. Her tone held both the reminder and a subtle hint of disbelief. Bumble's eyes widened fractionally, her wheeze of realization betraying her surprise.
"Oh my God," Bumble murmured, realization dawning, "I was so focused on coding, I completely lost track of time. I guess I should end the stream, It's been going on for... five hours?"
"You guess?" Vehndi chuckled. "Alright. Byeee!" Vehndi yelled. "Bye everyone!"
Jade laughed, her tone lighthearted and playful. "Bye guys. I'm shocked you all stayed for this long. You guys are real ones."
