Samar's pov:

Whatever both of them had ordered arrived in a few minutes, along with my coffee.

As the food arrived, I resumed sipping my coffee while they began eating.

The atmosphere felt tense, but I tried to engage in casual conversation to ease the awkwardness.

I asked Aditya about his sudden visit to India, hoping to understand the reason behind it.

He merely mentioned that he came for some family business and personal matters, avoiding any specifics and not offering any details.

So, I couldn't probe further.

Curious about his connection with Shiddat, I couldn't help but ask why he hadn't contacted her all these years—why now, after so much time had passed?

His response was vague, almost dismissive.

He said that every time he thought about reaching out to her, something else came up, as if life kept getting in the way.

His answer didn't sit well with me.

It was clear he wasn't ready to open up and he was projecting himself as a very private person who prefers to keep things to himself.

I understood that this was a usual response, especially since I was a stranger to him.

Why would he share details about his life with someone he barely knew? We were practically strangers to each other.

Still, the way he spoke, the guarded tone in his voice, made me wonder if there was more to his story than he was letting on.

Something about his demeanor didn't sit right with me.

Maybe it was because I could see through the facade, recognizing in him what I often saw in myself—a person who kept his cards close to his chest.

I am good at observing people, a good skill of mine. And the way he was speaking and presenting himself, it seemed like he was the kind of person who did everything in his life with a purpose.

Every word, every gesture seemed calculated, like someone who didn't make moves without a reason.

My instincts told me that if he was reaching out to Shiddat after so many years of silence, there had to be a reason behind it—something more than just a casual reunion.

Before I could dig deeper and ask him anything more, I saw him turning his face towards Shiddat's and said, "Hey! There's something there," pointing at the corner of her lips.

I looked at her and noticed a bit of food sauce at the corner of her lips.

"Where?" She asked, reaching for a tissue paper.

Aditya took the tissue from her, his fingers brushing lightly against hers as he reached out to help her.

I clenched my fist in frustration, struggling to control my emotions.

I knew what was coming up next, and it was becoming increasingly difficult for me to handle.

My fist hit the table, not with too much force, but I saw Shiddat noticing it.

I cleared my throat, making a sound of disapproval. I didn't care what she might be thinking or that I was openly showing my irritation.

I wasn't sure if she could read my frustration, but it was clear to me that my patience was wearing thin.
