Life in unicorn island was never dull. At least, that's what Adrien Agreste believed, and he wasn't wrong. Born and raised on the mystical isle allowed Adrien the freedom to explore all the wonders and mysteries his home had to offer.

He rode through the forest on his golden colored unicorn, Spirit. His mane was of a dark chestnut brown and his eyes a warm ember color. Spiraling patterns adorned the side of his haunches and flank, and his spiral silver horn glistened in the light.

"Come on, Spirit. Faster." Adrien encouraged his lifelong friend and the stallion picked up speed uphill. As they rode off, a couple of more unicorns decided to join them. These unicorns have yet to find their rider so, unlike Spirit, they didn't have their magic markings yet. Judging by the glee in their step Adrien could tell they were as excited as he was.

The new school year was about to begin. Which meant more new faces, and Adrien was finally old enough to meet them.

Unlike other riders, Adrien was a special case. He was a direct descendant of the very first Unicorn Rider and basically the prince of the isle, since his family has always lived and protected the land of magic with their fateful bonded equines. Because of this, Adrien bonded with his unicorn when he was only six-years-old. His family had magic in their blood, which Adrien's father never allowed him to forget.

Sadly, because he had been raised to be a rider from birth, Adrien wasn't allowed to attend Unicorn Academy since he would have an unfair advantage. Still, Adrien didn't care about being the best rider. He just wanted to make two-legged friends for once in his life.

Adrien and Spirit raced the two unicorns until they reached the top of the cliff. The two unicorns, one white and one golden with purple mane and tail, stopped and galloped their front legs as Spirit took to the air. His magic marks glowed and from his sides sprouted a pair of golden wings. Adrien threw his hands into the air, the wind sweeping his already messing blond hair.

Spirit soared over the landscape until they reached the shoreline. Spirit propelled himself higher, past the clouds until the island itself was hidden behind the white cotton. Adrien breathed in the salty sea air, the sun's rays kissing his cheeks. He dared to fly farther, away from the shoreline. His adrenaline was screaming, 'Go! Go farther!" But the rational side of him won out and Adrien sighed, deflated.

Spirit snorted and Adrien stroked his mane. "I'm okay, buddy. Let's head back. Felix will have a fit if I'm not home in time."

Adrien tugged on the reigns and Spirit flew back to their manor, not too far from the academy. Adrien dismounted and was about to lead Spirit to the stable, only to be stopped by his twin brother, Felix.

"Missed you at fencing practice." Felix said, arms crossed and leaning against the doorframe of the stable. Spirit had his own private stable, as did Felix's unicorn, Chaos. Chaos was a midnight blue colored unicorn with an ebony mane and images of broken diamonds on his sides. The unicorn flicked his mane while Spirit snorted, rolling his eyes at his adopted brother's haughtiness.

Adrien gripped his unicorn's reigns. "I forgot. I'm sorry."

"I'm not the one you should be apologizing to. You know how father gets when you're not punctual. You're lucky I was generous enough to cover for you."

"Yes, you're oh, so generous." Adrien led Spirit into the stable and started removing his saddle and reigns, ready to give him a good brushing. Felix and Chaos followed the two inside.

"I'm serious, Adrien. How many times are you going to go beyond the boarder?"

"I didn't go beyond it. I just flew over it for a bit. It's no big deal."
