THERE HAD ONLY EVER been one Greek coven of vampires; a coven of three sisters—The Kafatos Sisters. Greece wasn't populated with vampires the way that other countries were. There were vampires here and there, all nomads or just pairs of vampires, but Sirena, Deliana, and Evangelia Kafatos stood proudly as the only true Greek coven.
The only strange thing about the sisters was that none of them seemed to remember how they were turned into vampires—not even a single hint. They knew everything else about their human lives, everything but the very end of them. In the early days of the coven, the three girls—particularly Sirena—were troubled by that fact, but as centuries passed by with still no answers, it became useless to care about it. They were what they were and there was no changing it now.
Sirena was the oldest of the sisters, turned at twenty-one years old. She was also the most emotional and sensitive of the three, often described by her sisters as having the biggest heart they'd ever had the privilege of witnessing and knowing, even after all of the centuries they'd been alive; Sirena's kindness never seemed to dwindle, despite the darkness they'd witnessed over their many years. She was known for being bubbly by anyone who met her, and had an aura that most just gravitated to and felt comfortable with.
Deliana was the middle daughter, turned at eighteen years old. Though she wasn't the oldest, people often assumed she was. Her presence was commanding and stern to those she wasn't comfortable with, and she was the leader of the Kafatos Coven, regardless of their birth order. Deliana was motherly, in a sense, to her sisters, fiercely protective over her family. She was said to be threatening and intimidating to strangers, but to those she was close with, Deliana was funny and enthusiastic.
Evangelia Kafatos was the third and final sister, turned right after her seventeenth birthday. Evangelia was often described as the wild-card of the Kafatos Sisters—impossible to predict and very independent. While she loved her sisters, Evangelia was more likely to travel on her own, while Sirena and Deliana stayed home, or traveled together if they had to travel at all. Evangelia was bright and feisty.
The three of them together made a unique coven. Like other notable covens, such as the Olympic Coven and the Denali Coven, the Kafatos Coven vampires considered themselves "vegetarian" as they fed on animals, rather than human beings, giving them striking gold eyes. Over the five centuries as vampires, the Kafatos girls had made many allies, and even friends.
The Volturi were not necessarily friends, or even allies. They were merely civil with the sisters, as they were the most well-behaved vampires ever come across by the three kings. They'd traveled to Italy a handful of times, and Aro was quite amused by Deliana, who had worked her charm on him.
The Olympic Coven —also known as the Cullen Family—were more on the side of friends to the three girls. Carlisle Cullen had spent time in Greece as a new vampire, back when he was by himself, and he had been a fatherly-like figure to Sirena, Deliana, and Evangelia. He was kind, with a caring heart, and the sisters made an effort to keep in touch with him over the centuries. Esme Cullen, the matriarch of the coven, was, simply put, an angel. Sirena and Esme got along swellingly, sharing the same tenderheartedness.
The Denali Coven were allies, by extension of Carlisle's friendship with them, and the fact that they also were one of the only three covens to be vegetarian. Evangelia had met them during her travels, but Sirena and Deliana had not, though they'd heard great things from their youngest sister about the coven.
After living in Greece for centuries, in the early 1900s, the sisters made a move to North America—Canada, to be more specific. They relocated to a rural part of British Columbia, and they were happy with their home there. It was safer, and there was a better food supply than in Greece.
Sirena, Deliana, and Evangelia were lucky to have each other; full-blood sisters who had lived, died, and then lived even more together. Never would they ever have to be truly alone, because they always had the other two by their side, an unconditional bond filled with love that had only strengthened over the stretch of time.
None of them had a mate, however. It was disheartening, in some ways, for the girls. So many vampires had mates—Carlisle Cullen had Esme Cullen; Edward Cullen had Bella Cullen; Rosalie Hale had Emmett Cullen; Alice Cullen had Jasper Hale; Aro had Sulpicia; Caius had Athenodora; Carmen had Eleazar; Garrett had Kate. The Cullens hadn't even existed for very long before finding their mates.
Sirena was the one who most craved a mate. She often found herself wondering why she just couldn't seem to find that person, even though she had been alive for half a millenia. She felt that it was unfair that she hadn't gotten to experience love like that; she didn't know how much longer she would have to wait, or if she would even find her mate in the first place.
Deliana mostly just found it annoying, to put it lightly. Rosalie Hale had been a vampire for two years —which, in human standards, was like two days—when she found her mate. When Deliana heard the story from Carlisle, it made her more angry than sad. You'd think that existing for five-hundred years would award her, or at least one of her sisters, a mate; instead, newborn vampires got theirs after two years. It was baffling.
Evangelia didn't care much. She assumed a mate would be nice, but she didn't think about it at all, not the way Deliana and especially Sirena did. She was okay just existing. She didn't need a mate to feel love. She'd been in relationships plenty of times throughout her years and that was fulfilling enough for her.
Regardless, the sisters knew they were lucky enough to have each other, as most vampires were not so fortunate to have even non-romantic love in their lives, such as the love shared between them.
As it happened, Sirena wouldn't be waiting for love for much longer—her mate came in the form of a beautiful blonde who looked more like an angel than anything else. Her name was Elsa, and she was a member of the Denali Coven. She'd been traveling through British Columbia when she ran into Sirena on a hunt, thus starting the first ever love story within the Kafatos Coven.
I hope you guys are as excited for this story as I am to write it!!! I've had this idea planted in my noggin for months and months now, and I finally have the confidence to share it. The Kafatos sisters are the most unique OCs I think I've ever created. Their storyline will be delved into more as the story goes on, but I've basically created my own little universe for this and I think it's so cool and so much fun for me to be creative like this. Elsa is also such a cutie and a sweetie, I can't wait for everyone to "meet" her. This will be a series and there will be three fics, one for each sister. This one, of course, is Sirena's (and Elsa's) story. After this one, it will be Deliana's story, and then, finally, Evangelia.
Characters from the actual Twilight Saga will pop up here and there throughout the series. This one will mainly feature the Denalis, with mentions of the Cullens. Deliana and Evangelia's stories will feature the Cullens a LOT more (especially Deliana's).
Anyways, I am so so so excited to carry out this fic and I hope at least one person loves it the way I love it... <3
