Arriving at the dojo, the atmosphere felt different. It's like you can feel the intensity and it made me start to feel weary. I was prepared nonetheless but it also made me nervous. This shit is about to get serious.

It's a tough fight that we'll have to get through.

So when all of us entered the back of the dojo, we saw Daniel and Johnny but there was also someone else there. It wasn't Chozen because he was still in Okinawa. It was someone else and I have mentioned before that I do recognize him.

It's Mike Barnes. In the flesh.

My uncle has told me stories about him before. How they had their own bit of a karate rivalry when they were younger. But I guess they were able to make amends and resolve the issues between them which is good. It's good to leave things in the past and focus on the present and future.

"Fall in." Johnny said.

We all listened to what Johnny said and we formed the rows and lines. I was standing in between Sam and Miguel as Eli was standing behind me. Then we looked up to the three grown men who were in front of us. I can tell that they meant business today and it's officially go time.

Uncle Daniel started to say, "Please welcome our guest for the weekend, Sensei Barnes."

"Isn't that the guy who was at the Silver house fight?" I heard Mitch ask.

"Silence." Mike's voice roared through the air.

"In order to keep things unbiased.." Daniel was saying, "We brought in Sensei Barnes to observe and then select our top six."

Then it was Mike's turn to speak again, "During my years as the Tournament Terror, all I wanted was to be in the Sekai Taikai. But I blew my chance."

He looked at my uncle right there, so he's probably talking about their fight from thirty years ago.

"I am here to ensure that you maximize yours." Mike continued to talk, "Everyone I know who has participated in this has horror stories. This thing is intense. Unpredictable. People have died. MOVE!"

His shout completely caught me off guard, I was scared to be honest. He had yelled at one of the students on the way back.

"Who's ready for that?"

I heard Demetri then say, "Wait. Ready for the tournament or to die?"

I'm sure Mike Barnes means both in this case but I'm not going to talk. I already feel intimidated being in the same place as the one and only Mike Barnes.

"I will do to you what the Sekai Taikai will do." Mike said, coming back to the front, "I will surprise you with events. I will push you to your limits. And if any of you delicate flowers feel like going to your senseis and crying, don't. I've been given full authority for these eliminations."

He was staring right at Sam and I as he talked. He knows who we are.

"Selections." Daniel then said, "Let's keep this positive."

Mike turned to my uncle, "You came to me and wanted my help. The deal was my way or the highway."

"Get on the sparring deck." Mike told us.

Neither one of us moved.

"NOW!" Mike shouted.

We got onto the sparring deck as we waited for further instruction. It's make it or break it now. We have to be ready because there's only six spots on this tournament team.
