I woke up to a deep voice yelling, my father. I roll over and check my phone, February 6, 2012, it's a Monday, of course it is, Mondays are never good. I got up and promptly applied some makeup and got dressed as I tried to drown out the sound of my dad and Connor, my brother, arguing. This is a common occurrence, but since we were visiting my dad's family I hoped they would take a break from arguing. After finishing getting ready for the long day ahead of me, I opened the door to the guest room and stepped out, my eyes greeted with the source of all the noise. My mom was sitting at the table, crying, she hated the arguments but they were difficult to avoid. My dad and Connor didn't even recognize my presence that they were so caught up in yelling at each other. I didn't know what they were yelling about but I didn't want part in it. I walked over to my mom and saw her puffy eyes and I knew I had to get out of there, "Hey mom, do you want to go for a walk?" I asked her quietly.
"No, I have to make sure they are safe, you should go though," she whispered to me, scared.
"Okay mom, I'll see you later, I'll text you," I said, hugging her shoulders before grabbing a coat, pulling on my boots, and walking out the front door into the cold, winter air.I walked two blocks before I saw a tall brown haired boy with his head down, followed by a large man on the side walk on the other side of the road. He was walking in this direction, and I was intrigued by him, so I crossed the road at the next intersection and continued on the path towards this boy. Once I was a couple feet away, I blurted, "Excuse me!" And the boy looked up, his green eyes meeting mine.
