Orem smiled as he waited for Ash to sit himself down across the table from him. He was impatient to know how things went, but he knew he wouldn't get any answers until Ash had a cold beer in his hands. Once they had their drinks, Orem grinned again as he leaned forward a little. “So? Did you meet Tommy?”
Ash nodded as he took a long swig of his brew. “I did.”
Orem rolled his eyes, “And?”
Ash smirked. He loved to annoy Orem, and after what he'd just done for him, Orem deserved it. “And, he's just like you said. He was at me pretty quick. Kale definitely heard everything. He disappeared from the room before we finished.”
Orem was happy Tommy took the bait, but he felt bad for putting Kale through that. “What do you mean he disappeared? Where'd he go? And how? It's not like he walked out.”
“Don't know. When we finished, Tommy went to Kale's room as I got dressed, and he said Kale was gone.” Ash took another drink then wiped his lips. “Tommy went searching for him, and I dipped.”
Orem worried about Kale. He wouldn't have tried crawling out, would he? Was his arms even strong enough for that? He'd been in physical therapy since he was mentally capable, but it hadn't been that long. He had to learn how to walk all over again, and to do that, he needed to strengthen his body. There is no way he left on his own. So how? Where? With whom? Orem groaned as he thought about someone walking in on that.
“You have to go back. I need to know he's okay.”
“Hell no! Are you crazy? I just fucked his boyfriend and you want me to go back?!? No way. Find someone else. Or call the hospital and check on him. You're allowed to talk on the phone with him. Do that.” Ash was annoyed that Orem would even suggest that.
“Yeah, I'll do that. Thanks for today.” Orem gave Ash a shit eating grin. “Not like you didn't enjoy it though.”
Both men laughed then downed their beers before ordering another.
“Ash?” A deep southern accent cut in from across the bar. Tommy made his way over to where the two men sat before he noticed who Ash was sitting with. “Orem?” Tommy looked from one man to the other before his eyes settled on Ash. “You know him?” He used his thumb and gestured at Orem.
Ash was shocked to see Tommy here but not as shocked as Orem. Orem narrowed his eyes as he looked up at Tommy. “You're a little close to me aren't you? I thought you were scared to be within, what was it again? A hundred feet of me? Better run back to your momma before you pee your pants.”
Tommy slowly turned his head to glare at Orem. “I'm not scared of a little shit like you. The restraining order was just a small gift for the broken nose you gave me.”
“Mhm, whatever gets you through the night.” Orem lifted his glass to his lips and took a slow drink as he watched Tommy’s eyes. After returning the drink to the table Orem spoke again. “Why are you still here?”
“No ones talking to you.” Tommy replied before he turned his attention back to Ash. “How do you know him?” Tommy asked again.
“We knew each other since middle school.” Ash replied. He wonder if Tommy has heard the entire conversation that he had with Orem.
“So were you the one who introduced Kale to him?” Tommy sneered with disgust that made Orem aggravated while his blood began to boil.
“Actually no, me and Kale met at the movies for your information, now if you’re done talking, get lost.” Orem replied sharply as he stared Tommy down.
