Chapter Eighteen

“It’s already 3 am in the morning. It must’ve been a week inside the gate.” Chief Ahn noted, looking at his watch. “How about master head home first to rest while we keep watch?” he suggested.

“How could I rest at home when my members are stuck in there?” Baek Yoon-ho, guild master of the White Tiger guild, replies. “I’ll wait until morning.”

A sudden noise caught their attention. Immediately, everyone snapped their heads to look at the red gate that started glowing.

“Huh? The red gate! It’s opening!” Chief Ahn exclaimed. “The dungeon has been cleared! People are coming out!”

“Hunter Park Hee-jin! Hunter Go Myung-hwan and Yoon Ki-joong!” An employee called their names in relief, happy that some of their guild members have survived the unexpected red gate.

“Hunter Sung Jeongyeon!” Jeongyeon walks out the gate with Song-i right beside her as they both had stepped out of the gate and the gate behind them dispersed.

Jeongyeon dusted some bits of snow off of Y/n’s coat as she heard the employees asked about the other members who unfortunately did not make it. Song-i tugged at her clothes and she smiled at her.

“Don’t worry, I’ll give you the money once I received it.” Jeongyeon said as she ruffled Song-i’s head who giggled. “Let’s just go home.” She told the younger girl who nodded eagerly.

“Hold it.” Yoon-ho then clasped a hand on Jeongyeon’s shoulder, stopping her. “Let’s talk for a bit.” He told her.

Jeongyeon just slapped his hand away with the back of her hand. “I’m tired.” She told him, “If you got something to ask then go ask your guild members instead.”

Baek Yoon-ho blinks in surprise at her boldness but puts his hand on her shoulder again, only this time with a more firm and tighter grip. “I am Baek Yoon-ho.” he introduced himself. “We have lost nine guild members from this incident. As the master, shouldn’t I be allowed to ask some questions?” he asked, his eyes glowing a menacing yellow.

Jeongyeon sighed in annoyance, she should be home to Jin-ah and Y/n now but she is getting interrogated. “Okay and? So, you’re telling me that I am to be blamed that your members died in a dungeon that we didn’t expect to be a red gate?” Jeongyeon then glared at Yoon-ho, her eyes glowing in its icy blue color. “You should be thankful for the fact I manage to save the three remaining members. As the master, you should be glad that there are even members that manage to survive from this incident.” She grits out.

The two Hunters look at each other with eyes that could kill if one stare at it by accident. Baek Yoon-ho soon realizes that he needs to back down and so he removed his hand from her shoulders. “I was being too difficult. You’re right.” Yoon-ho said, “I apologize.” He formally said.

Jeongyeon huffs and walked past by him but not before dusting her shoulder where he held it with irritation. Only Y/n oppa gets to touch me like that, not anyone else. She thinks as she gets into the car as soon as Song-yi hops in as well as she drove the car away. Leaving the White Tiger Guild to themselves.

“Miss Park Hee-jin.” Yoon-ho called to his member who looks up from her cup of coffee.

“Yes?” Hee-jin answered.

“Who is she?” Yoon-ho asked, pertaining to Jeongyeon. “And why is she so irritated?”

“I’m not sure. After she killed the boss, she shouted something two times in front of the corpse, and then…” Hee-jin recalled what she was witnessed and she couldn’t believe that she saw something that she couldn’t still believe happened.

The boss of the dungeon became her soldier of the sorts just like the others…

“I’m sorry, master.” Chief Ahn told Yoon-ho. “It must be because she’s tired, she’s not a bad person.”

“No, that’s not the problem.” Yoon-ho replied. “Why haven’t you recruited her yet?”

Jeongyeon sneezed for a bit as she drove with one hand on the steering wheel. Song-i sits on the passenger seat, sleeping after getting out of the dungeon. She was humming in satisfaction and triumph as she recalled how she gained another powerful soldier added to her army.

“Not only I got Baruka as a shadow soldier.” Jeongyeon held out her hand as a new dagger had manifested in her palm. “I also got this as a reward for killing him before turning him into my soldier.”

They soon arrived at Song-i’s apartment where she resides, the young girl hops off the car. Song-yi then bows at Jeongyeon. “You did well.” Jeongyeon complimented her.

“Get home safe.” Song-i tells Jeongyeon. “Hey, Unnie!” she calls out.

Jeongyeon was surprised at it as she looked at Song-i. “Thank you for today. Tomorrow, no… I’ll see you later.” She said before running inside the building.

Jeongyeon was confused until she looked at the time and was shocked to see that it was almost 4 am in the morning. She sighed in disappointment as she drove the way back home after getting powers from the system and getting help from Jin-ho she’s getting less and less time to spend with Y/n who is also getting more and more busier since the armory and weaponry he is working for is getting more and more popular due to the fact from the advertisement they have been getting from Cha Hae-in.

Thinking of Cha Hae-in further irritated Jeongyeon as she gritted her teeth angrily. Who does she think she is, huh?! So, what if she’s an S-ranking Hunter? I’ll surpass her in no time and I’ll show her who’s better for Y/n oppa! She angrily thought as she arrived back at her apartment.

As she enters her home, she was surprised to smell the scent of freshly cooked breakfast. “Oppa?” she called out and Y/n then comes out from the kitchen with a beaming smile.

“Ah, you’re finally home, Jeongyeon-ah.” Y/n smiled as he placed down a plate of newly fried eggs and bacon. “Have you eaten? Have some breakfast then if you haven’t yet.” He told her but was pleasantly surprised when he gets back hug from Jeongyeon.

“I miss you so much, oppa…” Jeongyeon mumbled, muffled by his back and Y/n chuckles as he placed the plate down before turning around and hugging Jeongyeon back.

“I miss you too.” Y/n replied. “I’m so glad that you get to return back home and that always eases me every time you go do dungeon raids.” He told her as he patted her head.

“Of course, I’d always go home to you, oppa.” Jeongyeon replied as she looked up at him.

Y/n smiled. “Yeah… By the way, is he hungry?” he asked.

“Huh?” Jeongyeon blinks before looking to the side before going wide eyes when she saw Iron standing there with blank eyes, blinking at them like a toddler. “Iron?!” she exclaimed.

“Oh, his name is Iron?” Y/n said before smiling at Iron. “Hey, Iron! Nice to meet you, how are you?”

“Rah.” Iron replied as Jeongyeon panicked.

“Have you eaten?” Y/n asked as he grabbed an extra plate and placed a few eggs and bacon before handing it to Iron who grabbed it and blinked at the plate. “Eat up, big guy.”

Jeongyeon and Y/n watched in surprise when Iron just dumps all of the food from the plate into his mouth in one go. Iron’s eyes suddenly morphed into stars as he then showed his empty plate to Y/n.

“Rah!” Iron exclaimed.

Jeongyeon facepalmed while Y/n laughed. “I like him, Jeongyeon-ah. He’s a fun guy.” He told her.

Jeongyeon sighed. “I’m glad you do…” she mumbled.
