DAYS. It had only been days since Lucas, Henley and Zane had been rescued. Five days since she had killed Justin, and she was still not sleeping like she thought she would. She was restless and worried all the time. Any little noise made her jump, and the pregnancy was weighing on her emotionally.
Lucas sat in the living room with his leg propped up on pillows while he looked over the files of the businesses that he was going to transfer to Henley per Nessa's request. She wanted Lucas to focus on the more legal businesses they had. She was not herself since the whole ordeal had ended. Their love making was not as intense as it always had been, it was as if she were not there most of the time.
Nessa kept herself busy with the Rehabilitation Center for Women. There were only a few minor details that she had to work out and then the doors would be opened. Lucas called her five times a day or more to check up on her and their girls. Nessa had gone to the doctor three days after Lucas was home to make sure that what she had gone through hadn't harmed the babies. Physically she was fine and so were the babies. She was having girls. Emotionally, she was fucked up beyond all recognition.
She hadn't been able to cry or feel anything. She was under complete lockdown, and she had no idea how to get out of it. She had reverted to survival mode and stayed there. It wasn't that big of a deal for her, but it was affecting Lucas. She wasn't as intense in bed anymore and she kept her distance from him as much as she could, using the excuse that she was so busy with the center and preparing the room for the girls. She was afraid of losing him, so she put up a wall again and Lucas was waiting for the right moment to knock it back down.
It was after nine when Nessa walked through the door. Lucas was nowhere in sight, and she began to feel uneasy. She walked to his home office and found it empty. She went to the kitchen, the only people in there were Ryder and Lilian, sharing a piece of chocolate cake Nessa had asked Cook for. She didn't bother the couple and went on with her search for her husband. She looked everywhere, and there was still no sign of him. She sat at the top of the stairs and held her belly calming herself. He was safe. There was no threat anymore. She kept telling herself that over and over. She waited for another half an hour before she began to allow her emotions to skyrocket out of control. She paced the upstairs hallway tapping her forehead and thinking of all the horrible things that might have happened to him. She walked into their bedroom and sat down on the bed and began to cry. She cried all the tears that had been under lockdown. She cried for the loss of Travis. She cried for the loss she had felt the moment she had thought Lucas was gone. She cried for the past she had been forced to endure. She cried for the time she had suffered in the Pleasure house. She cried and cried until she had no more tears to cry. After her tear fest, Nessa got in the shower. She was a little out of sorts. The girls were moving and kicking up a storm and her back was sore. After she dressed herself in her nightgown she climbed into bed and called Lucas knowing that he would answer and that he was fine.
It took two rings for his deep and sexy voice to come through the line. "Baby, are you home?"
"I am and I'm in bed waiting for you. Don't make me start without you, Mac." She teased and hung up. She breathed a sigh of relief and leaned back against the pillows and closed her eyes. She knew that Lucas would be home in record time knowing that she was waiting in bed for him.
Nessa woke up with a strong hand rubbing her sex. She leaned back against her husband's muscular chest and moaned.
"You like that, honey?" Lucas whispered in her ear making her smile.
"I love everything you do to me, Mac." Nessa sat up with difficulty and found a very naked Lucas next to her. Her panties and night gown had been somehow removed while she had been sleeping.
