Chapter Sixteen

Connor and I pretty much have a system down now. We both get up pretty early, and we work together to get the kids ready for daycare, and then I drop them off. Sarah and Connor get a ride to school with Remi, since he's driving now.

I work all day, and Connor gets the kids out of daycare when he's done. We're looking into getting Zach into school next year, since he's at that age. Ana has a couple more years, and Connor already said he'd love to be able to work in the daycare with her. Plus we have the free clinic to work on.

Speaking of, that's where I'm heading now. They need some extra help this week. They are usually really overworked but everyone has been doing so good. We've been helping a lot of people too, so it's nice to see the outcome.

I know Connor is gonna come by with the kids later so he can help out too, so that's two extra people. And uncle Xan and Pop are coming by in a bit for a couple hours. Dad will be by for the night shift too.

Knox is gonna try to come by after he's done teaching so he can be some extra help once Xan gets Rhys from school. My whole family is willing to put in some time and it's so nice to know they all care.

Once I get to the clinic, I get right to work. I help get people to where they need to go, and I take down new patients. I schedule appointments for recurring patients. Willow stops by at some point, and sits beside me helping me sort through all the people.

"How's the new mate?" my sister asks, typing some stuff into charts.

"Good. Two kids too. Three cats" i smirk, "Ahead of you already"

"My pup will be here soon" she smiles, rubbing her belly. "Any day now, honestly."

"How is that going?" I write down some notes for the next patient, and hand it off to one of my runners.

"It's good. We're excited. Pop has been texting me every day about it" she finishes what she was typing, and starts writing down her next job.

"Well we can babysit, yano sense we know what we're doing and all" i joke, and Willow nudges my shoulder with a small smile.

"Yeah yeah. I gotta finish up here soon and get home. I have some last minute stuff to deal with before the pup comes" She rubs her belly, leaning back in her chair. "You know whoever.. Bottoms? Can get pregnant right? That's three kids"

"Yeah, and?" I raise a brow.

"Just maybe be safe? Three kids is a lot at once. Two kids when you've been with your mate for a month is crazy E"

"He wanted them, he got them" I continued on working, and Willow grabbed my arm.

"What about what you want?"

"I want him"

"I mean kid wise"

"I don't know. I never thought about kids, or being Alpha. I never had any of this planned. But Connor? I had him planned. I wanted him. All I want is to be with him. The rest doesn't matter. I can be a better alpha because of him. I'll be a great dad because of him. But did I plan all this? No. Did I necessarily want it? Not really. But do I want it now? Absolutely. I'm happy with where my life is going. If you and Pop have an issue, that's your guy's problem. This is my life, and this is how I'm going to choose to live it."

I end my rant by holding unwavering eye contact with my sister. She sighs, and settles back into her seat. "You're so stubborn. But if it makes you happy, I'm happy" she gives me a smile. "All i want is for you to get the fullest out of life"

"I will, with him"

"You're so obsessed. Dick whipped"

"Not even that. We haven't had sex yet"

"Are you guys going too?"

"He told me when he was drunk he wanted to. But i don't know if he meant it"

"Do you want to?" she asks.

"Yeah, of course i do"

"So why don't you talk to him about it? I'm sure dads will take the kids for the weekend so you can have alone time. They had kids too. Or even grandpa. He loves kids"

"Maybe. I'd have to talk to him first and see how he feels about it all. I don't want to pressure him into it"

"He seems pretty impulsive. I bet he wants to. Just talk to him" she stands, stretches and starts gathering her things. "Plus a healthy sex life is important. Especially with us" she slides her bag over her shoulder, and gives me a quick hug. "Let me know. I'll keep you updated with your niece"

"Thanks sis. Love you"

"Back at ya" and with that, she's heading off. I continue on doing work, until later in the evening. Remi comes in, with Connor on his heels.

Ana is on his hip, and Remi is holding Zach. "I'm just saying it's common knowledge now. I'm surprised" Remi says, setting Zach down beside me. He instantly throws himself at me, a smile on his face.

"And i'm just saying im pretty cute, so it's not surprising" Connor rebuttals and that draws my interest.

"What's happening?" I ask, settling my son on my lap.

"A guy at school hit on Connor. Connor got literally flustered, and ran away. He told me about it, and the guy came up to us at lunch and tried again. I said it's common knowledge you- our alpha is his mate. So i was surprised he had the guts to do it"

"I'm not surprised, because I'm a cutie, and I've gotten hit on a lot. I wasn't flustered either, I was confused because he never talked to me before" Connor sets Ana down, and she goes off to play with some toys. That makes Zach wanna go off too, so I set him down and he goes running.

"See the issue I'm having, why didn't you tell him you mated?" I raise a brow, and Connor shrugs.

"I didn't talk to him at all. I walked away."

"Both times" Remi chimes in. "He literally looked at him, and stood up and left. Left me there with the poor guy, mind you"

"Maybe we're not public enough" I murmured, crossing my arms over my chest. "We're gonna have a meeting"

"You are not publicly claiming me. I'm not an object" Connor crosses his arms. I tug him over, between my legs with a grin on my face.

"Oh yes I am, Pretty Boy. I'm publicly claiming you this weekend. Promise "I smirk when his cheeks turn a light shade of pink. I pull him closer, kissing his plump lips. Connor's tongue pokes out, slipping between my parted lips.

I won't let the kiss go much further, I'll save that show for this weekend. Because Connor is a cutie, he's hot. But he's also mine, and if I have to show some high schoolers he has a mate?

I'll gladly do so.

Connor steps away, a small grin on his face as he gets to work. "You guys are gross" Remi murmurs, but he grabs a folder, and gets to work with us. We're able to get a lot done, and it feels so rewarding. I remind myself to come here more often, so I can do more here. Plus the more help we get the better.

Connor seems at peace as he works with the community, and keeps an eye on our kids. I'm able to get them a snack, and keep them busy in between work. Connor finds them some blank pages and markers so they can color.

It's a good day, and I thank the moon goddess for my mate. And my family.

Aww a good calming day for Ethan. Calming days are nice, but they never last.
