Back in 2010 my brother and I along with a couple other people had auditioned for x-factor UK. This was just one of those days you could never forget. Plus it wasn't my brother's first time auditioning but it was a first for me. My brother had auditioned with the song "Hey there Delilah". Which isn't a bad song, I enjoyed him singing it and I'm sure the judges did too as he had moved on to the next round. Which they called it Bootcamp 1.

That day I performed with the song "Snow (Hey Oh)" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. They were my favorite band growing up so I thought why not give a cover of one of their songs. I was so nervous that day before I went on stage Louis was hugging me for about five minutes straight. He was the kind of older brother that wouldn't let you give up on an opportunity that was standing right in-front of you.

The judges said I did good but my vocals were off and I was too pre-mature for an audition like that. I was upset when I went backstage but I held it in because I was lucky enough to have moved to the next round. As I was backstage, my brother had made a friend. His name was Harry and he was dressed casual I guess. He had brown pants on, a white plain t-shirt, a thin sweater; something you'd see my grandma wearing, and a scarf that was brown with black specks wrapped around his neck loosely. He also had curly hair which I thought looked fabulous.

He had this smile that just brightened the room. He seemed nice that's for sure and he was with his mum and from what I heard his step dad as well. Which I thought was really sweet. Harry and I were the same age as my brother was already eighteen. Our mum had come to support us and helped us both calm down as we were more nervous about this than anything else in our lives. Our mum was our number one supporter and she was never ashamed to show it. That's what I loved about her the most. She had the heart of gold and the words of an angel.

As I stood next to Louis I look around the room, seeing how everyone looked nervous for the next round. Every person auditioning was getting personally interviewed and giving their own insights. I was up next to give my personal opinion and thought about the first round. A lady that sat next to the camera had someone put a mic on me so they heard me better and told me to take a seat. "State your name please." She asked me as she made direct eye contact with me.

"My name is Vanessa Tomlinson." I said as I looked at her which made me very nervous to say my name out loud. "How are you feeling after your performance?" She asked as she looked at me "I feel confident that I did a good job." I say as I wasn't entirely lying but at that moment I couldn't tell her the truth. I finished my questionnaire and I went back to Louis.

As I went back to Louis they were already explaining what we are expected to do tomorrow. We would have to dance to a song by Lady Gaga called "Telephone". I listened to it a couple times only because Lady Gaga was an icon.

Louis, my mum and I walked to the parking lot as it was very packed and we got in the car and drove back to our small town. In a way I was grateful for my Mum because if it wasn't for her I wouldn't have woke up today. I was very tired from doing my work from school. We got to our house and I walked into my room and I just plopped down onto my bed turning my head to the side. Louis comes into my room and I turn my head to the side and sigh.

"If you want me to leave I will" he said as he stop at the entrance of my room. "No, it's fine I'm just tired" I say as I sit up and pat the spot next to me on my bed. "Yeah I know but you did good today I enjoyed your cover despite what the judges said" he said as he gave me a warm smile. "I enjoyed yours too, it was different" "
