I sat down at a table with a window view, put my laptop down and my chamomile tea on it's right side. This has always been my favourite coffee shop for either personal comfort, meeting people or simply working on projects, this time I went there for the latter. I opened up the laptop and got on with my boring english assignment, it was the first time I ever forgot to charge my headphones therefore it made the task more difficult as I got easily distracted. I took a sip of my tea while I was typing then decided to add a couple packs of honey. While the word count on my essay was rising, I couldn't help but feel someone staring and looked to my left to see a couple of green eyes looking back at me, standing in the queue. They belonged to a guy who seemed to be around my age. I rolled my eyes and went back to typing. I never cared for male attention as I just got out of a two year relationship and tried to focus on school in order to get to a good college, but this time I felt the intensity of his gaze increasing. I looked again but he wasn't there anymore so I went on with my work.
After about forty minutes I took a short break, took the last sip of my tea and that was when he aproached me.
"We need to talk.", followed by my "That's a horrible way to start a conversation with someone you've just met.". Silence. He was simply looking into my eyes, or maybe behind them.
After what felt like an eternity he says "I'm Liam, can I get to know you? I moved in this town last month" and although I was in absolutely no mood I agreed to letting him get to know me.
I packed my laptop in my bag and we went on a walk in the nearest park. At first we were talking about trivial matters, I found out he has been going to the same school as me for the past month and I never noticed. Eventually he asked about my ring.
"Aren't you a bit young to be engaged?" to which I answered by saying "I'm not, but he promised he would".
"I cannot see what stopped him, you seem to be a lovely girl". I did not reply and kept looking at the pavement until he broke the silence. "Oh, now I get it." I look up at him and he continues, "There was someone else?". I rolled my eyes and said sarcasticly "Yes. There was a car".
He chuckled, "He left you for a car?".

"He crashed while driving his motorcycle too fast after we argued. I never got to apologise. The last thing I told him was that I hated him. I cannot even remember what we were even arguing about."

"Oh..."
Whenever someone hears me talk about this they apologise as if they are the ones who did something wrong, when in reality all mistakes were mine. This time was different because he didn't and decided to remain silent.
We kept walking until he noticed an old dog running away from some kids throwing rocks at him. "Cut it out! What is wrong with you, where are your parents?" He asked angrily. I kneeled next to the scared old dog. I opened up my bag and got a half-eaten sandwich out of it. Opened it and gave the poor soul the ham that was hiding between the two slices of bread. "There you go, I hope you like it." Then started petting him. I was so caught up in my interaction that this time I did not notice his gaze. He muttered something to himself then told me we should get going. Thinking back, maybe I should have stayed with the dog.
