A/N

I usually don't do authors notes in my chapters since I have the introduction to do that for me (lmao) BUT believe it or not, Sharon Stone who represents what Natalie Hawke looks like actually plays in a movie with David Morrissey, who's also known as 'The Governor' in The Walking Dead!

Felt the need to share that with you all because it was genuinely a crazy coincidence I found out (?!) Anywho back to the story!

Natalie's POV.

Driving down the big open roads of the country, I roll down the windows of the truck. The wind blows strands of my hair back that fell loose of my very low and small ponytail. It just hit summer once again, which the heat already drove me crazy and I cut my hair up to my shoulders; which surprisingly isn't too uneven. Props to me I guess.

I glance down at my two tank tops that I've layered; the one on top an army green and the one below it a white, though it's not a perfect white from the months it's been put to use. My jeans are boot-cut with a grey-ish blue wash, a belt around my waist connected to my thigh holster where I normally keep my colt python. I glance down at my old boots I've had since Atlanta when I was with Morgan and... Rick.

It's been almost ten months since I left Rick and the others behind in Atlanta.

To say it's been eating me alive is an understatement. A part of me wished I never left, and the other part of me believes it would've never worked out in the end anyways. Being on the road on my own has left me too much time with my mind and myself. I've been battling myself against the thought of Brynn not even trying to find me. I've dedicated so much of myself already to find her, and yet I've had no signs. I was in one place for many nights, along with King County and Atlanta Hospital; all places she would know I'd be.

"God! Stop thinking she left you!" I yell out to myself as I hit the steering wheel, the truck speeding down the road as some leaves that have fallen fly out of the way from the wind. I look mindlessly at the road ahead of me, going back to thinking if I should've stayed with Rick's group. They're trying to find a permanent place, and if Brynn—Brynn is looking for me so me moving makes both this journey difficult for us. Maybe I could've ran into her with the others; though, if I stayed anywhere near Shane for another five minutes I would've lost it.

I tap the steering wheel anxiously as I watch the once high-in-the-sky sun now fall below the horizon. I pull my truck over to the side of the row, a corn field that's still standing tall covering the left side of the truck. I kick whatever I left on the seat beside me to the floor, laying out on the bench seat. I tuck my left arm behind my head, staring up at the cream-colored roof of the truck as I close my eyes in attempt to sleep. And I thought my insomnia was bad before the turn, the fucking jokes on me. Knowing I haven't slept since back at the old camp in Atlanta, I know for a fact I'll be out without even knowing it. Not even two minutes later, I feel everything go dark and I'm out cold.

"Natt? Natalie!"

I look around me, finding myself on the ground in an empty parking lot, the buildings around me not really looking like buildings, although they.. are?

"Natalie!" I snap around, hearing as if my name is being called in all different directions by the same person. I look behind me, almost jumping out of my own skin as someone grabs me by my shoulders, shaking me violently. "Wake up! Please! Wake up!"
