Amyra's POV
"Zayaan! Shush! Your brother will hear you!" I warned Zayaan for the hundredth time. "But he's in his room right, he's not gonna hear us from the study and I'm telling you this is a really stupid idea, Bhayya is gonna hate it" He said with full confidence. "What if he comes out? And I don't agree that this is a stupid idea, its really fun and your mother was really thoughtful about this party but yeah there is less chance that he will like it but its not the idea's fault, it's your brothers fault!" I argued. "What is my fault?" I froze upon hearing a familiar voice and my now laddoo like eyes snapped towards similar looking ones of Zayaan. He pointed with his eyes that someone was behind me and it was quite obvious who it was. I turned around nervously smiling at a suspicious Ayaan while Zayaan crawled his was way over to me. "I told you he'll hear us!" I murmured annoyed to Zayaan. "Arre! He was in his room. I didn't even see him coming Di, I swear" He murmured back. "I can barely hear you guys. Whats going on? and what's my fault again?" Ayaan asked with raised eyebrows as his eyes travelled from his brother to me. 'Ah umm... well you..you don't smile right! Yeah.. smile .. I was just saying its your fault that you don't smile" I sighed as I cooked up a cover up. "And why is that even a concern?" He asked, slightly taken aback and defensive. "Di, even I wouldn't be able to come up with something worse" Zayaan murmured again to me and I felt embarrassed. He's right and he is really bad at lying. "Um... Bhayya I was..umm yeah I was just saying how Di is really scared of you. I mean you guys are friends and still she's scared of you so yeah she was saying that's because you don't smile. Try to smile at times yaar.... I mean Bhayya" Stammering the last part, he walked towards his room leaving me in this really awkward situation with this man who's interrogative yet aghast eyes were on me. This boy! Couldn't he have come up with something else!? Huh! Oh yeah I am to be blamed first! "I think I left my door unlocked. I'll have to go check... bye" having said that, I fled.
Having turned the last page of this book, I felt a sense of accomplishment. One more book done! Though I had started this book in a desperation to distract myself from the earlier event, it engulfed me completely. I checked my phone to find its already ten thirty. Goodness! A good seven hours gone. But it was worth it. I got up from the bed to get some food into my stomach. Hopefully I'll be able to sleep a lot today before Sunday gets over tomorrow and its another week already. I was on the way to the kitchen when the doorbell rang. It took few seconds to process before I hurriedly grabbed my hijab and torch. I covered my head before moving to the peep hole trying to guess my visitor at this hour. I was relieved when I say Ayaan through the hole. I hope everything's okay. I opened the door ready to answer his usual 'I hope I'm not disturbing you' opening sentence. "Do I really scare you Amyra?" His question was quick leaving me confused and unprepared. Wait what? "Huh?" Was all that left my mouth. "Do I really scare you?" He repeated the same sentence and even this time it didnt make any sense to me. "I mean, was Zayaan telling the truth? Do I scare you? Is that why you talk and laugh with others, seemingly relaxed must I add but not with me?" Woah, that's a lot of questions. "Um, no I mean... wait what?" I sounded dumb but I was really taken aback by his demeanour and questions. "Come on Amyra, these are very simple questions. Just tell me honestly, do I scare you?" There was desperation in his voice and I could see the same emotion mixed with what seems like anxiousness and hope in his eyes , but all through out he tried to keep a straight face. "No. I mean, a bit. But really it's not your fault. Trust me. It should just be me. You know, being stupid and over-" "Then why is that not the case with others?" He cut me off with another question. "I'm really sorry if I offended you. I didnt mean to say that. I mean I'm sor-" I was cut off when his sudden advancement towards me startled me. He too seemed to notice that and took a step back, regaining his composure. "Look, I dont want you to be sorry, that's not what im looking for. I just wanted to know if you are scared of me" he tried to speak in a more calmer way. "Im sor-" "No! No sorries! Please." He cut me off again trying to keep his cool as he clenched his fist. "Why are you even apologising? You seem to be a confident person generally then what happens when it comes to me? Do I scare you? I just simply want to know if what Zayaan said was true " He explained himself again and I gulped. How do I put this into words without being offensive or rude. "Um.. no you dont look scary if thats what you are looking for" I said which broke a amused look on his frustrated face and I looked away. I heard him sigh after a few seconds. " I dont mean to offend you but you kind of intimidate me I mean I tend to kind of get intimidated by you. I mean to say no you dont scare me" I just gave the messiest answer ever. I wonder if he even understood what I said. I slowly looked upto his face to find him looking at me intently while I tried to read his face, failing at it. What is going on his mind I wondered again. Suddenly his phone started ringing breaking both our gaze. He glanced at his phone before muttering "I've got to go" and left. What just happened!
