JUNGWON
I sat at my desk, papers scattered around me as I tried to focus on crafting a new health plan for Jay. It wasn't easy, considering how stubborn he was, but I was determined to make sure he ate properly and at least attempted a healthier lifestyle. Yet, no matter how hard I tried to concentrate on my work, my mind kept drifting back to what Sunoo had said.
"Be careful."
Those two words played on a loop in my head, nagging at me. What did he know? And why hadn't he just told me everything? The thought that he might be hiding something made me uneasy.
I tapped my pen against the desk, my eyes scanning the page in front of me, but the words blurred together. There was something deeper going on, and I hated being kept in the dark. I wasn't the type to let things slide, especially when they felt this wrong. But Sunoo...he wouldn't just say something like that without a reason.
I sighed, leaning back in my chair and running a hand through my hair. It wasn't like I had much choice. I couldn't force him to tell me more, but I also couldn't ignore the uneasiness that had settled in my gut since last night.
The strange message. The blank letter. And now, his cryptic warning.
Something wasn't adding up.
I glanced at the clock, realizing I had been sitting there for almost an hour without making any progress on Jay's health plan. With a frustrated groan, I shoved the papers aside and leaned forward, resting my elbows on the desk.
What am I missing?
As much as I hated to admit it, whatever this was—it seemed connected to this company or the owner himself.
After wrapping up the health plan for the CEO, I stretched my arms over my head and checked the time. It was already late, and the office had fallen into a quiet lull. The city outside was alive with the glow of streetlights and the hum of distant traffic, but inside, everything was still.
I grabbed my things and made my way to the elevator, hoping to get home and collapse into bed with Maeumi. As I stood there waiting, the elevator dinged, and the doors slid open.
My heart skipped a beat when I saw him—the same guy from a few days ago. The one who'd helped me when my card wouldn't work.
He looked just as sharp as before, pale skin, thick brows, and those piercing eyes that made him look like he walked straight off a movie set. Maybe a vampire movie, at that. I felt my cheeks flush, but I managed to offer him a small smile as I stepped into the elevator.
The doors closed, and the silence stretched between us. I kept my eyes forward, trying to act casual, but I could feel his gaze on me.
"So, what's your name?" he finally asked, his voice smooth but with a hint of curiosity.
I blinked, turning my head toward him. "Uh, it's Jungwon."
He raised an eyebrow. "Are you the nutritionist Jay hired?"
I nodded, feeling a little shy. "Yeah, that's me."
He smirked, his interest clearly piqued. "You must be the one causing all the fuss around here. I've been hearing about you."
I laughed awkwardly, unsure of what to say. "I don't know about that... I'm just trying to do my job."
The man nodded, looking at me with more curiosity than before.
