I put the hood of my car down, walk to my toolbox, and pick up a rag to wipe the oil off my hands. I noticed someone or more of a bug from the corner of my eye
"I have another job for you to take care of. Only you can take care of it."
"I quit, Mitch." "You don't understand, do you? This job can cover what you owe Them."
My eyes flashed at him and I crossed my arms. "I got promoted."His eyes widened.
"And what they are paying you is going to cover everything? Please hear me out."
"What is the job?" I ask him.
"The Lost Heir painting. I want you to steal it."
I sit down at my work desk. "And where exactly is this painting?"
"At a big house, no one is allowed to go there so it won't be like taking from the conman. It's owned by—" "The mafia?" I raise an eyebrow and
He nodded. Each job is more dangerous than the next.
"First the assassin, the second was a con man, now this? Are you trying to get me killed or out of my debt?" I asked him while wiping the oil off of my hands."You know I only want what is best for you."
"Hm, say that to the assassin who visited me. I had to move because of you." he shrugged "At least you got out of that moldy one-room flat.""Mitch, this is New York. Everything is expensive here." my two fists were balled up. He Rolled his eyes "No, you're just broke." I scoffed knowing he was right. "Don't come back, Mitch. Stop trying to make me do these silly jobs."
I hovered over his small figure. "I will be back, me and my lovely jobs will be back." he turns his heel and I glare at him from a distance.I pick up my camera from my desk hop into my Chevrolet and drive to the location they gave me.
I stop at a cliff only to see the ground of the cliff open. I opened the door of the car and walked into the tunnel.
Everything was white but the camera that scanned me.
"Welcome, Aurora Russo." A robotic voice spoke from who knows where. I look around only to have a door I didn't notice open. I walk through with my guard up.
One step, I am fine. How did that robot thing know my name?"You must be Aurora." I jumped at the sound of her voice. I turned around to see a woman with black hair dressed in a business suit. "Follow me." So gloomy, never seen a better copy of Wednesday Adam.
I walk into what seems like a modern day office with the boss sitting in the chair. Her fingers were interlocked, she looked creepy as she stared at me with less blinking than normal. "Have a seat."
I pull the wood chair back and sit down. I scratch my chin trying to make out what was happening here.
Who the heck are these guys and why did they contact me?She turns around and I look at her to see that she is opening a safe. She places a file on the desk. On the top of the file was a logo showing four crows.
"Adora, you are currently at the secret headquarters for a secret government agency." I look at the big bold letter on the file. "We are called Crow. We noticed that you were at the top of your class at the police academy."
I open the file and see a contract. "Are you paying as much as you said you would?" I said remembering the creepy letter I got one day after graduation. She nodded and grabbed a pen. I quickly signed my name. Who cares how creepy they are, I just need to finish paying off my debt.I close the file and stand up. She shakes my hand. "Welcome to the Crucial Resilient organization of woman." I hate that name already. "I am your new boss, Aashvi." She said while smiling. The engagement ring on her finger slightly pinched my skin. She hands me a piece of paper. "Call this number if you ever need our help, emergency only."
I stare at the paper quickly memorizing it. I crumble it up and throwing it in the trash. "I don't need your help, I need you to pay me." I trudged out the door only to see my car isn't where I parked it. I walk back and bang onto the door. "Hey! open up! Where is my car?! What did you creeps do with it?"
