Burning Up. *Aaron Carpenter*

Chapter 19

"I think it's absolutely insane that we're together, knowing our families history." I whispered as I held Aaron close whilst he studied the night sky.

It was often we would disappear from home to be together in places our parents couldn't find us.

"I don't think it's crazy at all." his eyes met mine and he grinned.

Most fairy tales end with a happily ever after. Our "fairy tale" ending wasn't always happy, but I knew it would last. I had a strong feeling it would.

My dad and I have slowly been trying to get back to the way we were. Aaron has tried to accept my father as well.

Meg was an old friend of my father as it turned out. My dad got her to adopt Aaron after the incident and she agreed. I guess my dad wasn't so bad after all.

Valery fell into step with Samantha and together they hated me from afar. They constantly glared at Aaron and I as we walked through the halls together or had lunch together.

It kind of hurt that my best friend turned out to be my enemy, but Aaron always reminded me that I still had him and always would.

I have gotten to accept this new reality of mine. It was hard to not let the past get ahold of the present or future. There were days I doubted us, Aaron and I, but then I would remember what my mother said when I went unconscious.

"Do you think that, this is why we met?" I asked him.

"What do you mean?" I sat up and crossed my legs and placed my hands on his shoulders.

"This whole thing, your parents, my mom and dad. Meg, the nightmares. Is that why we met?" he sat up this time.

"I think it's what brought us together. The nightmares have stopped and we're still alive. If that wasn't the reason then, we wouldn't be here." he kissed my forehead and held me close.

"I love you."

"I love you."
