The entire class was buzzing with the aftermath of Kalego's test. You'd think they'd never seen someone almost get vaporized and then casually walk it off.
Honestly, what's the big deal?
I only had to dodge death like twenty times.
Happens every day......
But something had shifted. No one was looking at me like I was some weird outlier anymore. In fact, they were looking at me with... awe?
Demon 1: Wow, did you see that? He went up against Kalego-sensei and didn't die!
Demon 2: He must be insanely strong. No one's that quick unless they're hiding some serious power.
Oh, no.
They think I'm strong.
This is bad.
Really bad.
What do I do now?
There was a strange satisfaction in the fact that no one even considered I could be human. I mean, who would? Humans were weak, fragile, and definitely not supposed to be here in a demon school, blending in with the crowd. But somehow, I was pulling it off.
Well, guess it's time to roll with it.
If they think I'm strong, I'll just have to play the part.
How hard could it be?
As I walked through the training grounds, demons were either giving me wide berths or staring at me like I was some kind of celebrity. A group of weaker demons caught my attention, struggling with a basic test—some kind of strength challenge that involved lifting enormous boulders.
Poor guys.
They're trying so hard.
They were barely able to budge the boulders, and I could hear them groaning from a mile away.
Okay, should I help them?
No.
No, Iruma, just stay out of it.
You've got your own problems to deal with.
But then one of the demons, a small guy with crooked horns and a face that screamed "nervous wreck," tripped and face-planted into the ground. The boulder he was trying to lift wobbled dangerously, threatening to roll over him.
Oh, come on!
Now I have to do something.
It's either help or watch a guy get squished like a bug.
I sighed, knowing full well I was about to get involved in something I really shouldn't. With a dramatic roll of my eyes, I walked over to the struggling group.
Me: Alright, move aside. I'll help, but only because your failure is making me cringe.
The demons stared at me, clearly confused.
Demon 3: You're... going to help us?
Me: Yeah, yeah, don't make a big deal out of it. It's not like I want to or anything.
Seriously, why am I even doing this?
The smaller demon, still sprawled on the ground, looked up at me with wide, hopeful eyes. Ugh, that look. It was like a puppy realizing it wasn't getting left behind after all.
